Land Rover is doing a live reveal today of a new Range Rover Evoque.

Because that's what the LR product line really needs right now. No hole in more urgent need of filling than a new Evoque, in my opinion. None whatsoever.

Nice job @ryanjl. I see you've racked up enough Likes to unlock the Sarcasm Font feature! :D:cool:

Ha!

Ironically, I think it was the original Evoque that caused Land Rover to wait to almost right before production to unveil its new vehicles. I think the story was they unveiled the Evoque about 6 months before you could buy one, and by the time they went to their first "new car" show in China, there was a near-exact Chinese knockoff in the next room.

Can't wait to see what the next LR loaner vehicle will look like. Maybe it doesn't have the same lethargic engine and miserable rear visibility.

Another blurry shot of the front end of what looks to be the 4-door model.

This makes it look like they've made the unfortunate decision to give it similar headlights to the entire rest of the Land Rover model lineup. I had hoped they would keep the round headlights, but that hope was probably misguided.

Here is one of the short wheel base, it's a cute little thing, not sure if this one will come to the US or not as even Jeep has a tougher time selling the 2-door version anymore:

Sorry but I would never be caught behind the wheel of something shaped like that. It looks like the driver's seat is positioned over the rear axle. Way too stubby for my taste, but I bet this thing could rock crawl like nobody's business.

I like the short overhangs, but that thing looks even smaller than a D90.

So, those last photos look like they have the least amount of cladding yet (unless the entire shape is a ruse). Makes me wonder if they aren't getting close to unveiling the whole thing?

I think Jeep is officially unveiling the Gladiator at the LA Auto show. That might be too soon for LR, though. Although, they are running out of time if they wanted to unveil it in the year of the 70th anniversary of the original Land Rover.

If they come out with a ***** design then it really won't matter if they hit the arbitrary 70th anniversary timeline. After all, the target audience won't be those of us who appreciate that legacy.

But, hope springs eternal.
