Hi All,

For the last several days shortly after starting the car I am not able to raise/lower my suspension (the light around raise/lower suspension switch is also off) and a center console is displaying that "Only Normal Height Available". I have to stop the car and restart it and only then I can lower/raise suspension. Any idea what is happening ?

Any leads will be greatly appreciated!

Best,

Michal

Sounds like you may need a new compressor. Have you also checked the fuses?

The replacement compressor is amk instead of hitachi. They will need to reconfigure settings aswell as it is a different make.

I don't believe the LR4 was fitted with the Hitachi - which is how Land Rover came to retrofit the AMK to the LR3 once it had been out in the wild of the LR4 for a while...

maybe it was just early manufactured lr4's. I know my 2010 lr4 was a hitachi. It was replaced 2 months ago at the dealer,it was stated on paper work that it needed to be replaced with AMK, additional bracket, and to be reprogramed since it was a new make of compressor.(warranty covered)

Up to MY2012, the LR4 was fitted with the older (Hitachi) compressor found on the LR3. I think the switch to the new AMK pump and bracket happened as a running change during the early 2012 build date. As mentioned above, the new compressor requires a software update, as well as a new relay of course. The new design compressor should be a vast improvement over the old one.

My 2011 has recently randomly started showing that same message in the display. If I get the message I have to pull into the garage or parking spot, turn off the ignition, the put the switch into the lower vehicle position and it will let the vehicle drop down.

After washing my 2011 LR4 it popped up with the “only normal height available” I shut the car off then back on and it seemed to work fine( no error messages) but the compressor was running then it’s like it faded and shut off( as if the power going to it was slowly getting less and less till it was to little to run. It wouldn’t come back on but I was able to raise and lower the car 2 or 3 more times(trying to get the compressor to kick on) shut the car off then on and it came on again strong for about 2 minutes then error saying” vehicle will raise when system cooled” I’m assuming this means I will need a new compressor in the near future and considering it’s a 2011 it will need a software update too? Am I correct?
