Hello,

Anyone have a link to a tool that they know fits the hub lug pattern for pushing in the half shaft axles? I'm trying to remove a rear half shaft to fix a torn CV boot but the axle is not moving (lots of pounding with sledge with block of hard wood and it wont move). I'm looking for something like:

but all I find are too small for the 5x120mm bolt pattern.

Thanks.

I've never had a problem getting them out. I used a punch and hammer. If you're willing to pull the brake disc, you should be able to use a 2 or 3 arm puller that instead of one that goes on the wheel studs.

Hi,

Thanks. Yes ended up using a 3 jaw puller. Had to crank it down as tight as I could then hammer on it. Shaft was really seized to the hub. Other side basically fell out. New bearings, backing plates, upper/lower arms, track rod, brakes...

I've used a hand torch to heat the outer housing a little and then an air chisel along with some penetrating oil (let sit overnight or at least an hour if your pressed for time) and then just air chisel it out...once it starts to move it will usually go all the way out...the rears can be pretty tough as the corrosion likes to set in.

I first put some WD-40 SPECIALIST RUST RELEASE PENETRANT SPRAY and let it soak overnight.

Then a 2 1/2lb Engineer's Hammer and a Punch Tool did the job for me. It took only 3 taps to "convince" axle shaft to go in.

Good luck!
