I am betting caliper piston is hanging up. It happens I had a VW Passat with about 40k kms that needed a new caliper because of that issue.

Well, the saga continues.

Early last week I had LR roadside assistance take the car to my nearest dealer, LR Bedford NH. They wouldn’t give me a Loaner and I heard nothing from them for days. I finally called them and they pretended to know nothing of the history of the problem. After a few days I called them again and they said everything was working and since they couldn’t duplicate the problem they were sending it back.

I called LR NA customer relations. They took all the info and promised to get back to me in two days. They didn’t.

I rang them again and was told that since the dealer couldn’t duplicate the intermittent caliper seizure they couldn’t fix it but were replacing the left caliper anyway.

Go figure that one!

The state of Vermont has some pretty stiff consumer protections that I think i’ll invoke.

I’m really ****** and am assuming that by refusing to deal with my documented complaints they have incurred liability.

This is not the first problem I’ve had with Bedford NH LR.

I’ve got the same issue with the front right caliper sticking. I’ve cleaned and greased them multiple times, rebuilt them and put new rotors on....wasted money, caliper locked again at some point and warped the rotor. My old Range Rover had brembo calipers and I never had a single issue with them. Is it possible to swap over to brembo calipers? If you went up to 20”rims(currently have stock 19”) anyone ever upgraded calipers?

Well I had another long talk with LR NA. Didn’t sound like they were gonna do anything. I called LR Bedford this AM to ask status and was told that “they felt the right rotor was warm too so they ordered a replacement caliper”.

So maybe I’ll get it back on Tuesday which is two weeks. And I’ll miss the big blizzard coming my way. Damn!

Krill, sorry you have had this problem but your story is just like mine. Cleaning, lubing and they work fine until I start to smell them.

What are Brembo? Brand? I have 20 inch wheels.

You've never heard of Brembo? They are the premier brand for brakes.

Nope, I never heard of them, but then again I’m no longer a car guy. The last car I seriously worked on myself was my MGA and that was ca 1960. I can prob still balance the intake on dual Strombergs.

If this dealer “fix” doesn’t work I’ll look into Brembo for the LR.

Well my dreams of switching to brembo brakes were crushed when I started pricing everything out( plus I’ve got 19”rims so I’d have to move to 20”) guess I’ll add this to the “someday” list and live with the brake shake‍♂️
