The Evoque is 2013. They may have put LED’s in the 2015 refresh. Generally, LED’s have good color and are extreme bright, but don’t have great control over the light, or a sharp cut off. I would rather have a good set of HID’s at this point over LED’s.

The OEM LED headlights in my X5M and E63 are far better than the OEM HID on any of the LR or RR vehicles I've own(ed) however the EU/ROW HID headlights I have installed on most of my vehicles are on par with LED headlights in terms of projection, light output and coverage.

If anyone is interested, I can do a write up on the project. I’m very pleased how it tuned out. The HID output is amazing, and SIGNIFICANTLY better than the factory HIDs.

Yes please! I'd be keen to tackle this project if there was solid writeup available. I absolutely can't stand the halogens that came on my LR.

^^ please don’t, as I’ll be tempted to upgrade to 2014+ headlamps then upgrade their projectors!

I kid of course. The more info we have here the better.

upgrade to the LHD EU/ROW headlights while you're at it.

Have you got part numbers or a place to purchase by any chance? I’ve contacted PowerfulUK, but they only sell the RHD units.
eBay has tons of different part numbers and it’s quite confusing.

I had an LR3 with HID’s before my LR4. LR3’s have Bosch Projectors which are far better than the Valeo HID Projectors that the LR4’s come with. In the HID world, Valeo is pretty much considered bottom of the barrel, and are commonly used in a lot of vehicles...including Tesla & Chevy. My wife also has an Evoque with HID’s. I’m not 100% certain that they are Valeo’s, but a quick google search seems to indicate they are.

Here’s my wife’s Evoque HID’s and my LR4 HID retro against our garage at 25’. I’ll let you guess which is which...

Finally an explanation on why I am not going nuts. I always thought my HIDs in the LR3 were much better than the HIDS in my LR4. Now I know!

When I bought my HID housings and took out my halogen ones, I upgraded the xenon bulbs to Philips D3S 42403 from the OEM Osram 66340 bulbs. The Phillips are purportedly brighter but it could just be a marketing gimmick; I can't find the specs right now to compare the two. I switched out the bulbs before I ever used the stock Osram bulbs, so I cannot compare, but I'm pretty happy with how they are now.

I can't speak for Saltyfly, but normally changing out the projectors involves putting the headlight housings in an oven to soften the glue so that you can separate the clear front of the headlight housing from the rest of the headlight body. That alone probably keeps out the squeemish (and those whose wives aren't out of town).

I figure if I can sell my halogen headlamps on ebay for half the cost of the xenon housings, it is probably worth it. But I'm not sure how long it will take me to sell them...
