Can anyone suggest a good phone mount for the LR4? Ideally I would like to use it in the air vent to the right of the steering wheel.

I've had a few that have worked OK here, but always lose their grip after a few months and fly off when going round corners/bumps in the end.

Thanks!

I get you requested recommendations for the phone mount for the vents. However, if you decide to consider the CD mount, I have been using this one. Secure fit and holds my Pixel 2XL perfectly in both a horizontal or vertical orientation. Even when off-roading with a lot of rocking and bouncing, I've never had it fall out.

For me, utilizing the never used CD slot outweighs blocking the ventilation. No affiliation with this product. Just speaking from my own experience. Though there are many out there to select from.

Thanks guys. I'm not a fan of the CD holders personally, especially in the LR4 as the CD player is quite low and would mean you have to look down much more so than if it were mounted near the vent.

The Pro Clip one does look like a great solution. I have an iPhone XS with an extremely thin case (Peel - https://buypeel.com). I'm just slightly torn as to whether the "Adjustable" holder or "Padded" holder would be the best fit.

I use a ram mount suction to the windshield and their x grip. As stable as it gets.

I didn't expect to add anything to this thread because I use a CD-slot mounted holder that is sufficient. I don't hate it, as my daughter would say.

Then today I was getting an overdue car wash and saw this $10 vent clip magnetic holder at the cash register. Had to have it to give it a try because like the OP, I have wanted something closer to my line of sight and have been too cheap to spring the $60 or so for the ProClip solution.

I pulled over to install it and I gotta say I'm impressed after the first 30 minutes of testing. I used one round magnetic disk which I slipped into the credit card slot of my iphone 7+'s case. The holder also comes with a larger rectangular piece if needed. Both metal pieces come with adhesive backing if you want to attach them to the exterior of the case. I slid mine inside the case and the attachment is nice and strong.

I pressed the base onto the lowest vent fin so that if it drooped it didn't have far to go. No drooping so far. My coiled Griffin lightning charger cord easily reaches. Nice to have an uncluttered view of the center stack again.

Ten bucks for a small upgrade. We'll see how long it lasts.

That's the same thing i use and it's been fine the few years I've had it. I've used it off road, even, and it's been fine.

Good to know, Ryan. I'm keeping the solid CD-slot gizmo in my console just in case, but for now this is a cheap win.

Didn't think I'd do one of my Amazon-style reviews on a $10 impulse buy but there you go.
