I have a 2011 LR4 HSE with 76000 miles, which I truly enjoy but have had a problem with my Bluetooth connection. Every time I attempt to connect to the Bluetooth figure my phone say unable to connect to make sure the Land Rover connection in range. I was told that it can be the Bluetooth module that needs to be replace, but can find it in the car to check or possibly replace. Any suggestion or recommendation will be appreciated.

Did you have any luck figuring out you Bluetooth problems? I am in the same boat. 2011 LR4, Bluetooth worked previously, but no longer shows up on my phone in discovery mode.

Hi All,
I also have the same vehicle, 2011 HSE (150,000km) and same Bluetooth issue. It worked fine up to now and the other day decided to stop and hasn’t worked since. There has been no intermittent issues leading up to this .

I have scanned for fault codes and found none.

There is reference to a Bluetooth module somewhere however I can’t find anything on it.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi
I too have a problem with the B/T in my 2011 D4 HSE. All entertainment & satnav work. B/T used to connect to phones but was intermittent and now no phones can now "find" LR most of the time or occasionally when they do, won't connect. Last few times it worked was after visiting a car wash when the wheel arches were jet washed, but then the radio cycled on & off every few seconds until I turned engine off and restarted. Can the B/T be reprogrammed or might it be a loose connection or is the B/T module f*cked? Any help would be appreciated.

Hi again all,

I have progressed further on this.

There is a module in the rear right hand corner beneath the tub in the cargo space area that controls the Bluetooth.

It is also connected into the MOST fibre ring so if it fails entirely or is disconnected any devices on the MOST system (Media Orientated System Transport according to the manual) will not operate unless the fibre connection is patched though. MOST system connects all infotainment items including the amplifier etc. There are bypass plugs available on EBAY / internet for the fibre - I searched Landrover MOST bypass and several options came up.

Luckily my module is only faulting on the Bluetooth and not the fibre so is still keeping the fibre loop operational.

I have seen in other areas that there is an issue with water ingress damaging the module however in my case it is not the issue and the area is bone dry.

I have had a couple of quotes for replacement -$750(Australian) for new and around $200-$300 working second hand.

I have removed the unit from the vehicle and looked into its internal circuitary to see if i am lucky enough for it to be a dry solder joint. However as I don’t have any way to recover the system at this time if I make it worse I haven’t progressed down that path too far.

There is an indentification label fitted with part number AH42 10F845 AA however that didn’t appear to be the LR part number and the dealer took a bit of time to locate the correct number. Searching on that number in google and eBay brings up quite a bit of information and also second hand units for sale.

Interestingly enough, when it worked I could see it in the list of equipment in the code reader, however when it stops I don’t even see it at all as a device or as a fault code.

On the side of the module, the top two connections that are for the fibre ring and the bottom double row connections in my vehicle only has 2 wires connected via the multi plug for power supply. If power is disconnected the MOST fibre ring is broken as well.

Update:
I had to replace the car main battery recently. While it was disconnected everything in the infotainment system reset and now the Bluetooth system works again.

My iphone with ios10 works but when the Samsung galaxy S9 with Android 9 tried to connect, the Bluetooth system in the car stoped responding and I can’t connect the iPhone or see the land rover Bluetooth.

Pulling the fuses 68, 67, and 64 in the passenger compartment fuse box has reset the system (and radio station presets) and I can connect the iPhone via Bluetooth again.

Pulling these fuses worked for me and allowed the car to become discoverable again. Thanks for posting this solution!!

Hi all,

Final update to my Bluetooth saga.

I was having battery run flat issues after 2 days not driving with a brand new battery. I noted this was coincidently when the Bluetooth stopped being discoverable. Again no fault codes on the code reader and no Bluetooth device shown either.

I bypassed it in the MOST ring using a MOST bypass cable from eBay - around $12 aud. This stopped the battery running flat after a couple of days not being driven and confirmed this Bluetooth module was causing issues additional to no Bluetooth.

I removed the unit pulled it apart and looked for any faulty joints etc on the pcb and found nothing. When I put it back it worked for about 15 mins and stopped again (as before) Pulling the fuses started it again only to work for 5 mins.

After searching the manual cover to cover and countless on line pages finding no solution I bit the bullet and purchased a replacement unit. Unfortunately for me nothing was available second hand so had to go with brand new. It was a straight swap and did not require any programming or setting the BCU to match.

This has fixed everything, stopped the battery running down and the satnav, sound system, and infotainment all work much better - I guess the bypass fibre cable was not as good quality (no surprise there) or the Bluetooth unit is also a booster / repeater for the MOST ring. The system also gets up and running much quicker now.

Anyhow problem solved with replacing the Bluetooth module.

What I did find from one of the car wreckers / breakers / dismantlers is that some vehicles (both discovery and range rovers) leak from the right hand rear wheel well area or trim / window above and it ruins the Bluetooth module.

There was no water damage on mine however was definitely the problem.

Additional info:

The module worked for the MOST just the Bluetooth part had failed. When pulling the battery supply out from the module the MOST ring was broken and stopped working confirming MOST passthrough / repeater was still operational.

Removing the module stopped all infotainment, radio, satnav, screen etc. Putting in the MOST fibre bypass plug restored everything bar the Bluetooth.

When the Bluetooth worked I could interrogate Bluetooth on the code reader. When Bluetooth stopped working, the code reader indicated no Bluetooth unit found / installed. At the same time the infotainment screen displayed if your vehicle has the phone feature fitted, please pair and/or connect your phone. The same message appears when the module is removed and bypassed.

In my case there was no middle ground with the Bluetooth not working on the phone and the code reader showing fault codes. It was either good or not found.

This link shows a similar eBay item for the MOST bypass plug. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/fiber-o...orsche-B-WJ-/154346557866?hash=item23efc591aa
