...The 2nd row does not have the view out the front like the LR4 but that is a want and not a need.

Hate to disagree, but that is one of the key attributes that sets an LR3/4 apart from any other creature thats currently out there and is not just a want.

And the IBF is the major one that no other SUV on the planet can claim to have. A monocoque/unibody chassis in an SUV, by design and owning to laws of physics, can never offer the type of ride quality that an IBF does in an LR3/4. It is just what it is :)

This is mostly from my view on what I need/want in a vehicle and how fulfills me.

But the D5 is lighter, stronger, faster, brakes better, handles better, more comfortable, better off-road/on-road dimensions, better technology, better safety, easier to drive, better MPG, better lighting inside and out, and more refined. Still keeping the outstanding 4wd system and EAS.

Not had one issue with sight lines or view - I am under 5'6".
The 2nd row does not have the view out the front like the LR4 but that is a want and not a need.

I'm hard over for diesel, and the bottom line for me was the D5's same big diesel engine that is only otherwise available in the RR and RR Sport (but was never available in the LR-series). Next was the fact that the D5 exceeded all other Land Rover vehicles in off-road capability prior to the advent of the new Defender. Even now, it equals the off-road capability (including wading depth) of the New Defender except for approach and departure angles.
