Looking into purchasing new Rotors and Break pads for my 2013 LR4 HSE 47k miles I've notice its been releasing a lot of break dust on the rims, any recommendations on which ones I should get?

The brake dust on your rims mean they are doing it's thing. It's not an indication that you need new pads. If however it turns out that you do need pads, i'd go with EBC Yellow Stuff SUV pads. Be mindful that these pads will emit a lot of dust however. More dust = more braking performance. If brake dust is a concern with you then go with brembo ceramic pads on rockauto.com. Keep in mind if you do go that route you will sacrifice brake performance. As for rotors i stick with OEM.

There have been multiple threads discussing this in detail... search the forum for details. (TIP: Search for "brake", not "break".)

The PO of my LR4 had the wheels painted (or powder coated?) black which solved the dust problem. I use the OEM Ferodo pads and they seem to work very well, with zero noise. I may try the EBC Yellows eventually but those are substantially more expensive and I don't know if I need the extra stopping power.

Also, for every rotor/pad combo that one person likes, another thinks it sucks. Case in point, I casually mentioned a particular UK-based parts brand to my indy mechanic yesterday while I was watching him do my tire service. He and his son (who works for him) both started laughing, then asked, what particular part are you looking at? I said brake kits. They said well maybe that would be ok but whatever you do, stay away from EBC. I just kind of laughed. Everyone's got an opinion.

@RoverMike, I have had decent results with several sets of OEM rotors and pads although my current fronts have started squealing like a stuck pig. I need to go light them up a few times and see if I can re-bed them.

FWIW - I have gone through many sets of brake rotors and pads over the last 12 years and from my experience the OEM pads and rotors work the best. No warping problems and good stopping performance.

Could you list some of the brands that haven't been so awesome? It would help narrow down the non-OEM field.

I've commented on this before, but FWIW, I know OEM parts are not cheap but given my low mileage use, I won't take chances and just use the OEM stuff which works quite well. Excellent performance, quiet, no issues.

I feel the same way. I reached a point while geeking out on brakes and looking for the perfect setup. I won't go as far as saying OEM works the best, but they are solid and are a known and safe option.

Now I can go back to geeking out on oil and tires until I reach this same level of acceptance.

Zimmermann (made in Germany) is a good option at about 1/2 OEM. Brembo rotors may be OK and lately they and the pads have been aggressively marketed on the interwebs. I am putting some recut rotors (Raybestos Professional euro) and Brembo pads on next week. Will report back.
