BuyBrakes - Do you not like the Akebono? I would be interested to hear why not since I haven't bought yet.

I was going to get Hawk until I saw all the great comments on other vehicles. Hawk seemed more of a track set instead of a daily driver? Maybe the Akebono are just more popular.

BTW, Your prices are a good bit higher than Amazon - $70 vs $90 rear (HB682Z.657), and $101 vs $133 front (HB684Z.694) for the same Hawk set.

We're always happy to smash Amazon pricing, easy deal, just give us a ring.

As you know, Jeff Bezos is always happy to answer your questions about brakes and rockets as you can email him at [email protected]. I don't think they are a Veteran owned company nor do they staff brake experts that have worked at the friction companies, but you can try calling their help line for brake advice.

Regarding Akebono, there are a lot of fans of Akebono, but we don't sell them. I think Tire Rack might. Hope that helps!

I've got Hawk pads on my front with Land Rover rotors and I've been pretty happy with them in the 4 months they've been on.

Just bought a Stoptech stage 3 set for the rear from buybrakes. They should be delivered today and going on the vehicle tomorrow!

I'll chime in on EBC Green vs Orange, but it's not an apples to apples kind of comparison. I've had EBC Greens on my '11 LR4 5.0L V8 HSE and have easily added 30k to it with a little meat left in them. Braking is a major step up from OEM, the friction on these pads are amazing. I went from squishy to stopping like a normal sedan.

Since I swapped my brake system over to a smaller rotor to accommodate smaller wheels, I went with cross-drilled and slotted rotors and EBC Orange. I needed to offset the smaller rotors with better friction and reducing the heat. With this setup, braking is very similar to the EBC Green. These pads really perform under heavy use or when it heats up. With that said, when its cold or at the beginning of the drive, it feels like OEM braking. Other than that, the EBC Orange is probably my favorite set of pads this far. Orange brake dust is far less than the Green, and the Green is significantly less than most pads out there.

If I still had the OEM wheel setup, I would definitely would have given the EBC Orange a go, especially if you're towing.
