Hey I have a LR3 SE and a JL 10 W6 in box with 500/1 Amp for it.. the thing is ridiculous. I want to install it in the trunk and im considering using the factory Subwoofer ouput signal in order to get clean bass set at the factory subwoofer crossover levels.. Does anyone have an idea where to tap into these lines? details would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

So a couple issues, but its definitely been done by others- there is no line level outputs, sub or otherwise (that I am aware of). The interconnect from the headunit to the factory amp is fiber. I dont know of anyone that has tried to see if its toslink, but that would be a much bigger project anyway. You will have to tap the factory SUB speaker wires for input. Either under the passenger seat, in the tailgate, or some where in between. I have the pin numbers of the amp connection at home if that would help. You need to be sure your amp has line level inputs and not just RCA jacks.

My tailgate 'sub' in the SE definitely sounds more like a full range speaker, so I doubt there is any crossover in play. Sorry for the bad news, but I hope it helps. Be sure to post some pics once you get it figured out!

Hey there rambino,

I've tapped into them for my own sub. With the sub in the tailgate, there are 4 wires that run to the sub. Disconnect those wires, but they run through the driver's side of the car into the tailgate with a bundle of wires. I can't remember what the colors are, but use the positive wire running to the sub and run that to your amp for the gain.

That's what I did, worked well too. I do also have a sub knob in my glove box so I can really turn it up when I want.

Wow 10YO thread resurrection...I replaced the factory sub with a line level to RCA converter and monoblock amp. Then ran speaker wire from the tailgate to duel 10" sub box that fit behind the 3rd row seats. If I recall, the hardest part was getting decent 12V power into the tailgate to run the new amp. pics: https://goo.gl/photos/2C3kHx515pRC7GSg9

I ran new power through the firewall. Connected my ground and have a remote, rca and sub control knob all ran. The original idea was to connect rca to stereo but there isnt a connection. I can either use the wiring off the factory sub or off thr amp but I need help finding my lines for the signal. Fosgate powered sub will take lo or hi input so i dont think I need a line level converter and can grab a signal anywhere but i dont know which lines are which. how do i figure which wires to tap into?
