specs say only has a 220# load rating
I’ve always been curious about this too. Never understood why this rack has a lower rating called out then most other on the market.
That's great. Thanks for sharing this....There is a lot of good info on here regarding Front Runner racks, but my research led me to Eezi-Awn -- their K9 system seems pretty stout, and the US dealer Paul @ Equipt / equipt1.com suggested that the Eezi-Awn is lighter, quieter, and stronger than the Front Runner. Might be something to look at for those wanting a platform. Also, there's an Eezi-Awn load bar kit available -- sounds kind of like the old Front Runner load-bar kit I've read about on this forum which is no longer available. The bonus of this kit is that you can use the same feet to "upgrade" to an Eezi-Awn platform down the road, if you so choose.

I have the front runner load bar kit (3 bars) and really like it. I was sad to hear they stopped making it (story I heard is that people were overloading the bars, they were bending, so they just stopped making it instead of beefing up the crossbars.) FWIW, they still list it on their website and even have an LR4 pictured on the "load bar components" page. I haven't researched it, though...
