Love to get back there. PM me if you want some help. I have local LR friend that can help scout too.

BogWhoppit, I'm in. I will need to do some mods, I just got my LR3 and just spent a few $ getting here squared away.
I would love to get this done.
PM me if anyone is interested in getting things going for next year. I have some hurdles to overcome but this write up was awesome and got me thinking, ...why did I buy this truck if not to go roving. Anyone wanting to go and do this next time, PM me and let's get things moving, I am already behind the 8 ball, bone stock LR3.

ArmyRover thanks for the write up and your service to our country. Do one up for your next adventure please. Also since you say you won't be "competing" how about a list of what you did to get the truck ready for the run? Love the door list, LMFAOSBMRH.

To get it ready:

OME HD Springs
Maintenance
33x12.50R18 Atturo Trail Blade MT
Factor55 ultra hook and fairlead.

You need to consider though my truck already had

Proud Rhino Front Bumper
TerraFirma sump and transfer case skids
Proud Rhino gas tank skid
TerraFirma rock sliders
Pro-Speed UK Roof Rack
Coil Conversion with TerraFirma springs
LED bumper fogs and Warn HID lights
Awning
Fuel Cans
CB

I won’t be competing next year but I will likely do the event. One of my friends has asked me to join him so I will if duty permits. I honestly could care less about where I finish I just enjoy the adventure of the trip.

The question is will I be in a LR3 or a 110?

I’ll be leading Coal Country II next weekend (23 August) Starting in State College PA and ending in Gardner WV. It’s stock Land Rover friendly. If your interested PM me.

Anyone that is wanting to do it (Red Clay Rally) I’m not an information hoarder so ask and whatever I know or can share I will do so happily. Lessons learned and shared make us all better.

Oh and thank you for the support love my job and wouldn’t have my life any other way

I was in WVA visiting last weekend then had to drop my son off at JMU. So I was not able to join in. I have some work to do like at least bigger tires under the stock shocks with johnson bar lift probably before I go on any type of trails.
Thanks for the list and the exisiting list of installed items also.

Cool story/trip! Why'd you choose that wider tire vs something that would tuck in better like a 285/70-18 which is almost 34" but with a section 11.5" ? It's perfect on an 8" wide wheel.

After test fitting a few sizes, I landed on that size for factory wheels that fit right in amazingly using the lucky8 strut tower spacers which allow 100% full flex without any fender flare issues. No rub issues in any trail situation.

I won't ask about the springs because that's a very tired pro/con personal choice really. I've wondered about strut spacers on top of the steel spring kit but the axle angles might get too close to a dangerous limit for reliability.
