So I took my LR4 to the dealer today for an alignment and they told me my front LCA bushings were “blown out” and I needed new tie rods in the back. This would come with a price tag of $3400. Here’s the kicker though.. i replaced my bushings (that they’re saying are bad) not even 20k miles ago with Poly Bushings from Atlantic British. And to top it all off they charged me $170 for the nothing they did :)

So.... did you tell them this?

If they are charging for diagnostic work, that's fine. But if they are saying your poly bushings are blown out, I'd be curious what they actually diagnosed.

Shot LCA's gives a nasty sound on bumps and cannot be mistaken. The Stealers are making a quick buck. I've just DIY'd my LCA's (with OEM's) also did my tie rods. #Happy

are we talking those solid polyurethane bushings? good grief, why? I had those on a bmw for a while, trying to solve a vibration issue. a) made it worse b) destroyed the ball joint on the other end, as the poly was way to stiff for the system c) nonstop creaking... go OEM bushings or name brand aftermarket. Or rather, I'd just replace the whole arm and ball joint as a set. easier.

btw my oem bushings are well worn and in need of replacement at 44k, 8 yo.

do you have a garage? if so, it's actually very easy to use a carpenter's square, make some marks on the floor that correspond to the center (axle) lines and outside face of the tires, and figure out your alignment. I've never had to adjust the alignment after bushings or arms. New tie rods? sure

$3400? wow
