I most definitely won't be a first adopter. Maybe in a year or so. The engines are already being used in other Land Rover/Jaguar vehicles, so it's more just waiting it out and seeing what the chassis does. I'd also like to not jump in until there's a decent aftermarket presence, if for no other reason than to know what factory options to spring for or what ones to not waste my money on.

Totally Agree on waiting!!!
New design, new tech, new factory,
Same old beloved Rover.....

I recall the roll-out of the D5 being a near disaster in the UK with so many problems. Fixes have been regularly rolled out over the last couple years. Of course, the LR3 took until 2007 to get fully ironed out as well. It's normal - testing is not the same as the real world, there are only so many scenarios they can think of and test for before launch.

I expect a dedicated team at LR ready to tackle the influx of issues once deliveries start - the world is watching and this is the make or break vehicle in their hope to turn the page forward.

This is the market LR is shooting for:
“As Land Rover continues to grow in the U.S. market and we launch models like the new Defender, we are supporting activities such as skiing and snowboarding that resonate with our expanding American customer base,” said Kim McCullough, Vice President, Marketing, Jaguar Land Rover North America. “The athletes of U.S. Ski and Snowboard exemplify ‘Capability with Composure,’ a hallmark of Land Rover. We are proud to support them in their quest to be the premier winter sports team in the world.”

As a huge LR nerd as well as an even bigger ski nerd, I'm pointlessly happy about this.

An interesting look at the LR Slovakia plant under construction that I had not seen before - looks pretty big:

The ramp-up is coming, images from Nitra:

“We began to accept orders today. The production will start in few weeks,” said Russell Leslie, JLR operations director in Nitra, as quoted by the TASR newswire.

The cars will be up for sale as of spring 2020.

From this angle, this appears like an extremely sharp-looking vehicle. There are other angles that are somewhat less so. I'm hoping those lesser angles will grow on me.

Again, though, if I was buying right away, I'd pass on the factory roof rack. Surely there will be much better options coming in the aftermarket.

I went to a local dealer (Land Rover Pasadena) with the intention of putting down a deposit on a 2020 110 Defender HSE with some options. Their sales guy informed me that, as of right now, they are asking 20K over MSRP to even take an order. I laughed and walked out.

It looks like I'll be waiting a year or two like the rest of you... I didn't mean to wait, but I will.
