so my mechanic just told me that my rear LCA are going out and will need to be replaced before too long. What would be a fair price to replace?

The rear bushings on the front lower control arm?

I have an indy that let me supply my own parts. Bought the whole front lower control arms, and he charged me about $260 in labor. Once he was done, I took it to get aligned, so factor that in, too.

I understand where you are going with that. The object is to avoid the "clang" when you take it out of park. But I was taught when parking on a steep hill to step on the brake, put the trans in neutral, set the parking brake, release the brake pedal, and then put it in park, so that the parking gear isn't holding any weight. FWIW.

Not to overthink things but your approach does seem at least theoretically better than mine. That's years of muscle memory to unlearn on my part, but I'll give it a try!

I have to admit I enjoy that servo/robotic sound of the e-brake when it's setting. Someone once said that it sounded like a big auger was dropping down from the Rover and drilling into the ground to hold it in place.

Are you taking it to an independent or the dealer? $1300 for a 2-hour job and about $400 in parts is some steep labor rates.
I use an independent, but I'm sure like everyone else here, one that specializes in Land Rover. I'll track down the receipt and update you

So when does the transmission go? 150,000 miles or ? I have a 2011 LR4 after selling my 2008 version, but this 2011 has had all kinds of problems. TG I did have the warranty to 100,000 miles, but that is over now. This rig requires new brakes/rotors on front and back every 50,000 miles; the bluetooth phone connection just stopped working and they want over $700 to replace it with a new module, and they also want another $700 to replace the 3 knobs which control the A/C, heat, etc. The knobs have turned sticky and cracked - like a puppy has slobbered and chewed them (not the case!) and I just need the round rubber type rings. They say the entire face would have to be replaced. WHAT??? And now I feel a drag in the transmission. I’m at 142,000 miles with regular service being done by dealership. Looking for a 2016 model soon.

BT phone issue - i use BOVEE connector. $80 on amazon. problem fixed! LOL

Its the bushings on the rear wheels. I got 2 quotes, first place was $1545 out the door and the other was $919 out the door. I reached out to Lucky 8 and they priced me 2 control arms for $310 shipping included. How hard of a job is this too do, anything special on replacing them?

I've never done the rears. Probably depends on how rusted out your bolts are, and the tools you've got at your disposal.

This video has some pitfalls.

Took this guy multiple weekends, but you can see why if you watch the video.
