The other day my wife is using our 2016 LR4 and went into town, ordinary trip, leisurely pace. After running several errands with starting and stopping at each location she finally finishes and begins to reverse out of the parking spot then the vehicle decided to throw a series of fault codes and a few Christmas lights on the cluster. Vehicle defaulted to P and being half way out of the parking spot and halfway in she was stuck. She attempted to press the HDC buttons, switch programs, switch gears but it would not allow her to do anything. Feeling defeated she shut-off the motor and contacted me. By the time I arrived the vehicle decided to reboot itself and started up without issue. After about 220 miles or so this did not occur again.

Has anyone else on here experienced this issue? Any ideas on why this glitch may have presented itself and resolved itself? Should she anticipate this behavior at some point again? If so is there a proper method to resolve this or is the old "Rover Reboot" the only way to go at this point?

Total shot in the dark, but I'm guessing it's a sensor. Maybe either wheel speed sensor or a brake sensor. At least that's the direction I would start searching.

I assume no codes?

EDIT: There was a post on the Land Rover Owners Facebook group a few days ago with similar symptoms on an LR3. General consensus was brake switch. I can't figure out how to link the post directly (it was made on Oct 13), but here is the group:

No codes, all lights went away nothing. As if nothing happened. In the past the "Rover Reboot" as I have dubbed it was to pull the battery terminals off and start anew but this time simply shutting down and keeping it off for a few moments did the same trick.

IF it happens again, this may save you some of time. Turn off the truck, get outside, lock\unlock the door with the keyfob, get in, and start the truck. It's a hassle trying to trick the truck to go into standby mode and getting it back into a running position, but saves you some time.

About once a year my LR3 radio will mysteriously have no sound. I need to turn it off, get out, lock it, wait ~60 seconds, then unlock and restart it to fix it. No idea what happens to trigger it. Obviously having the LR4 stop after starting to move is a lot more disconcerting and if it happened once, it can happen again, the question is what is triggering the event. Was the FOB being pressed by accident or the gear selector dial nudged between notches by accident, or some other random event? This are the things that drive us all crazy!

She does keep her key in her bag but does holding a key button while the vehicle is on do anything other than chirp the horn?

As far as I know, the horn chirps but that's about it. I sat on mine with it pressed against something and was wondering what caused it to chirp, but nothing serious.

This is one of those mysterious gremlins where it may or may not happen again. If it does, now you and your wife knows what to do. At least you're not stranded.

Are you on the original battery? When the battery gets weak crazy things start to happen. On mine, when the clock switches to military time format by itself, then I know its time for a new battery.
