LR4 and an odd 20in tire size..fit?

I have had my 2013 LR4 for a year now, and it has the factory 19 inch wheels with 255 55-19 tires. I have been wanting to upgrade the tire size for a while and my goal was to drop down to 18 inch rims and get 265 65 18, which is the size that commonly fits without any lift rods, etc. At first I was looking at tuffant steelies but then shifted focus on getting a set of 18-inch rims from an lr3 and either grinding down the calipers or getting spacers. Recently, I have found a set of 20 in rims from an l322 RR supercharged for a great price and I have to say these rims are one of my favorites, looks-wise. So now, I'm somewhat exploring I getting these and fitting tires. I still want more sidewall than I have now, so I found a tire size of 265 60 20 that would be a big upgrade over stock. But, these then become 32.5inch wheels, which I am thinking might rub, at least stock. What I actually like about this particular tire size is that almost all the choices are e load rated, which is nice. So my question is, has anyone I've been able to fit a similar tire size to this on their LR4? I have perused through most of the 20in tire threads that I found but haven't found anything yet. I know 18s are preferable but damn, i love these RR supercharged wheels. Would be good to know either way. Thanks as always!!

That's definitely not going to fit in stock form. My 265/60r18 st maxxs barely fit. Also note that most lift options don't help because turning clearance actually gets worse and they don't change where it bottoms out. To fit bigger tires the main way forward is to cut out the frame bits that contact, reroute the lines behind the fender liners, then mod the liners for clearance. Lots of work and probably less safe in a crash without the frame horns.

Also fwiw I think lr3 18s will require spacers and grinding. Pretty sure grinding alone won't do it. Steelies, compos, or BMW style 99s + light grinding are the main options for 18s.

It sounds like a lot of work. Is it worth the effort of doing all that over staying with factory 255 55 19 size? I’m assuming that if your an avid rock hopper that you’d have bought a defer as a play car

It's not really any work to bolt on 18s. I wouldnt own it if I could not get 18s on it. For my purposes sturdy e rated at or mt/at hybrids make it useable. I don't see the point in a 6k lbs truck on car tires. I also live in the mountains.

Your best hope for 20 inch wheels would probably be 275/55/20. There are a few E-rated tires in that size, and even more D-rated.

Interesting, so 10mm wider doesnt have as much of an impact as overall rolling diameter. I see these are about 32inches. I guess that's the max overall diameter you can run before it starts rubbing.

I realize 18s are the way to go, I really do. I generally loathe 20+ inch rims but I really really like the clean simple and classic design of these particular RRS wheels. Thanks!

If the look of the 20’s is what you want I get that. We are all doing this for a particular reason and life can be short, so do what you want but..

I’ll just throw in that for all of the opinions and comments that can be confusing, having just done the LR3 18” switch from 19’s, it just wasn’t that much work (relative statement I guess) and I’m really happy with the 265/65s from a performance and look standpoint.

THanks I'm not sure how the amount of work is a factor in this, as both 18s and 20s are an equal amount of work, at least for what I want to do. buy wheels->buy tires->mount tires on wheels->put on vehicle. If they rub and there is work involved with trimming frame rails and rerouting things, then I won't do that.

26-60-18's to start. Added some 275-55-20's with Geolander's and a set of Johnson Rods...no problems.
