The Rhino does attach via a sleeve through the factory rear recovery point. There are two additional bolts and intentionally deformable washers that mate these bolts to the cast holes on the factory receiver (the Rhino provides its own holes for trailer safety chains). On top of this, there are two bolts that secure a hook device back near the spare as an additional safety anchor in case TSHTF.
The seller has certified test results on the original design. My understanding is that there was a minor upgrade to the design after I purchased mine. I contacted the seller to ask if I needed to upgrade and he said no, mine is still good to go. The specs on the Rhino (it’s a Class IV-rated hitch) exceed the specs of the LR4’s own towing capacities in terms of tongue weight and overall towing capacity.
Doing a side-by-side comparison would be helpful...also costly. If you’d like any other RW impressions or photos, LMK.
