Actually in the modern age a new product launch requires much less than you think. The lines these days are designed to run several models concurrently. Like platforms and standardized parts share the line. At VW here in Chattanooga they run the Passat, Atlas, and the new Cross Sport on the same line with multiple parts shared across models. There is a picture somewhere on line that shows the plant in Nitra with a new Defender next to a D5 on the same line. Their systems know exactly which serial number is at each pitch and the parts bins have laser readers with green and red lights so if one vehicle is supposed to have a heated steering wheel and the guy tries to grab a non heated wheel the light on the parts bin flashes red. Design and modeling is done with CAD so the process again is way less difficult and in many cases doesn't require a plant shut down or at least not a complete shut down.

Not trying to be confrontational with you here, but it's not that easy. In fact, it's not near that easy. The reason (using your VW example) they can do that is years of planning. As a novice looking inside from out, you think there's not a lot of effort. That really couldn't be further from the truth. And you example is just talking about assembly, in reality, they've been doing that type of assembly for decades. The real issues (AGAIN) is the vehicle being ready for sale at the same time it's ready for production from a quality perspective. Many times it is not, but they have to start making them and figure they will fix them post production which is why you almost always have recalls and programs with new vehicle launches.

If that is the one I have heard about where they make 007 a woman, I might just avoid the Defender for them allowing it to be included in that tripe.

Is nothing sacred....

It's the last Daniel Craig one, I think.

As a Land Rover nerd and an Omega nerd, I await with eager anticipation.

So those are the 19" wheels, but I'm not sure if those are the 255/55/19 Duratracs. They look a little bigger.

Wonder if Land Rover is having Goodyear make a bigger size, similar to how they talked GY into making the 255/55/19s for the LR4?
Maybe 255/60r19 or 255/65r19? No idea
