Last month, my car triggered that error code. I took it to the dealer, and for $120 diagnostic they said that I needed a new air compressor for the suspension. Cost? $1500 installed.

I got home and onto Google and learned that I could buy a new (but old edition) Hitachi compressor for $800, and install it myself. Or, I could "upgrade" to the new system from Land Rover for $900 and then have the dealer upload the new software to allow the new compressor to work properly ($65 charge).

I took Option #3. Spent $50 on a fix-your-compressor-kit-yourself from the UK, and then another $50 on tools (the 3rd bolt holding the compressor kit to the chassis is literally IMPOSSIBLE to get to without a 12" flexible ratchet extender) and spent a good 2 hours finding YouTube videos showing me how to replace all the O-Rings and filters within the compressor. After a solid 4 hours of installation work on my lift, my son & I got it working....and no error light!

Problem solved. Total cost: @$100. Total time: @6-8 hours

It feels pretty good though to save $1400!

Anybody else have this problem? If needed, I can post the awesome Youtube links... They made my life a lot easier!

(One last note... The LR3 & LR4 both use the same compressor system. Location, bolts & covers are identical)

Nice work! DIY FOR THE WIN. Post up the reference material you used and the link the the fix kit. Might be useful at some point.

Good job.

I'm actually surprised I haven't had to service or replace the one on my 2012, given the humidity in Houston, but as of yet, it keeps chugging, er... puffing along.

Hello friends. I have a 2016 Land Rover Discovery Land Mark. It appears to me on the screen two minutes after starting up (only normal height is available) and the vehicle height and landing button turns off. I checked the air compressor and it is excellent. When the lift button is pressed, the car lifts quickly from behind and is slow in front.
i need help please

You need to scan the code from the OBD port. It can be any number of things, but the code will help pinpoint it.

Please explain more

You need to take your car someplace where they can plug a computer into it and see the specific fault code you have.

Write down that code, then come back here and search for it to see if that helps you figure out what the problem is.

I had this problem but it turned out to actually be a very weak compressor that I ended up replacing for the new compressor for $900 and had my mechanic install it for $200
