Hello all. Recently picked up a 2015 LR4 HSE. Love the car. Haven't found too many helpful threads on LR4 heated steering wheel failures. So I'm starting a new thread.

Our heated steering wheel stopped working. I've seen many videos on the web showing you how to trouble shoot the heated steering wheel. . .but I'm not sure if the videos for the Range Rovers (slightly older models) would apply to our LR4.

The heated wheel switch lights up like normal. . .and stays light (does not go out unless you operate the switch). This would seem to indicate that the fuse is not blown, and the resistance on the thermister is not out of wack, and that there isn't an own circuit in the heating element. Can the heating element go bad without having a break in it somewhere?

Or is all this wrong because older heated steering wheels and their trouble shooting is not applicable to the LR4.

Thanks,
JonR

Just noticed I’m having the exact same problem on our 2015 LR4 HSE Lux. Did you find a solution?

I'm not going to offer specifics here, but have you actually looked inside anything or measured anything or are you going simply by why you see light up?

If not, I'd start with the fundamentals and:

- check the fuse
- pull the switch and check how much voltage it is getting
- check switch for corrosion
- ideally, supply the correct amount of juice to the circuit bypassing the switch entirely

Then go on from there.

My 2016 steering wheel is acting funny. Sometimes it gets very warm, sometimes just barely, today it quit entirely.
After I shut down and restarted again the heat was working but it still is variable.

Funny this came up today, I was just wondering on the way to work if it was just me or my steering wheel isn't as warm as it used to be. So it still technically works, but I'm guessing it's on it's way out. And there's no question in my mind it's because my CPO expired last month!

The hot then cool thing cycle is by design. If they kept it super hot it would probably melt the wheel or be a fire hazard. 1st world problems.

Mine gets pleasantly warm but never toasty hot. I haven't noticed any cycling of the temp. On my '04 Jag, that big beautiful wooden wheel would get piping hot. If memory serves, it had settings just like the seatwarmers in our LR4s. On the top setting, I could easily feel the heat from the wheel even through thick winter gloves. Nice!
