Sorry for bringing this back to life again but has anybody used the STP Oil Filter instead of the Mahle? Not trying to cheap out but tired of buying them online and my local store stocks the STP editions.

Buying them online makes you tired?

I buy from Rock Auto. They place delivery on my doorstep. Not tiring lol. Rock Auto lists two different Delcos. One less than half the price. I wonder what the catch is?

Mystery gets deeper. PFG602G pulls up the appropriate looking filter on the AC Delco website. PF659 (cheaper one) ends up as "part not found"

edit PF659 is listed for Jaguar and may be a discontinued part.

Not sure if someone already mentioned it, but AC Delco is another quality, inexpensive choice for oil filter, and side by side with the Mahle that costs over twice as much I honestly can't spot any differences. Have been using these for the past 3 or 4 oil changes (I am sticking to a 7,500-mile interval and Mobil One High Mileage EP), no problems.

Same here. PF659 for the past two changes on my 16' LR4. Normally a year is up before we hit 6k mile oil change.

I searched on STP oil filter in AMZ and found the IFJF PF659 product that purports to fit our LR4s. I should have searched further to get an actual STP brand but I went ahead and ordered it.

When I got this one today, I noticed right away that thge texture of the actual filter fins was a lot different than that of the Mahle product. They seem to be covered in a fiberglas-like woven material. I’m no expert on filtration media but just based on the eye test, it looked like it would perform differently than the plain paper filters...better or worse remains to be seen. I went with the Mahle filter I had on hand for today’s oil change and will set this one aside.

Next time I will order the AC Delco filter and make sure it is the branded item. I will compare that one with this IFJF thing I got to see how they match up at least visually. I’m a little leery of this IFJF filter...
