On a longish trip (250 mi) steering wheel heat quit and the light on the heat switch went out.
Then I got a message that the econo mode was not available and the orange light went on indicating it was non operational. The switch had no effect.

I have a voltmeter plugged into the cigarette lighter and it consistently read 14.8 Amps On the trip down.

Is something weird going on? I’m in NYC and the Lr is garaged for another ten days so I can’t get at it.

Collective wisdom on this board is that the LR4 with a low battery can be the cause of all sorts of weird electrical malfunction manifestations.

Unless your battery is newer than 2-3 years, I’d start with the battery.

Battery is 6 mos old. Interstate. Steering wheel heat a bit wonky for a while but. Not like this.

I think you mean 14.8 volts, do you mean continuously or consistently which could mean often, if consistently the meter should read between around 13.8volts and your 14.8 volts, charging at 14.8 volts continuously is I believe a bit high and may overcharge the battery.

To check battery, park car after work, next morning open car door and release hood then close door, let car stand for 15 minutes or so for systems to go to sleep then put a multimeter across the starter battery posts, it should read around 14.7-8 volts after overnight stand, if it does the battery is OK as it has held the charge overnight. As the alternator is charging at 14.8 volts that also appears to be OK as it is obviously charging the battery.

If your eco mode is not operational check the aux battery under the hood. It’s the smaller battery. Don’t think that is tied to the heated steering wheel however.

Yes, I meant volts! I’m in midtown Manhattan so there’s nothing I can do myself so I took it to Manhattan Jaguar Land Rover. I’m here another week and they’re gonna try to squeeze it in. The voltmeter in cigarette lighter generally reads between 13.8 and 14.8

Thank you!
