I have noticed on occasion that my passenger floor is wet. I have not seen any leaks. Could this be my heater core starting to let go? And help will be greatly appreciated..

Sunroof drains or outside lower windshield trim leaking and allowing water into hvac system.

Open sunroof and pour some water around where the drain spouts are. You should see it hitting the ground roughly around the air intakes on each side. If not, pull the interior a pillar trims and make sure they are still connected and in good shape. If so, blow some compressed air through them or snake them to clean them out. Keep going until you can pour water and see it hit the ground.

On the windshield, that lower trim piece starts to warp over time. it is cheap and easy to replace. If you wish, you run a bead of silicone under it to better seal it, and some have rigged up a deflection plate over the hvac intake to further prevent water intrusion.

Use forum search field on "water passenger footwell" and there are several threads with more info but what @avslash said is best practice for this issue.

Where in MD are you? We have a fairly active and friendly owners group in the DMV with members from several neighboring states. DM me if you're interested in more info.

My new windshield cowling also let water to leak into my pass. footwell through the cabin air filter so I took a strip of black electrical tape and ran it along the area above the air intake taping the plastic cowling to the windshield. That "fix" so far has worked for a year without the tape coming off. Cheap and easy and you don't even notice it. But - it's a crappy way to fix a $ 65K LR.

Is the working theory here that garaged LR4's are less prone to this due to less debris build-up? FWIW, my 6yo LR4 has no such issues, but based on reading about the problem here 7 years ago, I always check for proper drainage at each car wash.

I ended up trading in my 2005 LR3 for a 2012 LR4 because of the frequent leaks into both footwells. The final straw was after one bad storm, I slammed on the brakes in traffic and a tsunami appeared on the passenger side! It was all down in the rails with the wiring and everything. That was enough.

Same body, so it has the same potential issues if you don't stay on top of them.

Yup, but I've now had the LR4 8 years and no problem! LR3 started leaking in year 3 of 8. I think it was the windshields. I had them clean out the sunroof rails and everything else each time I replaced the glass or whenever it leaked heavily. Once I was just sitting in the drive-through for coffee and it started raining. Before I even got my coffee, water was dripping out of the little plastic "Airbag" tag on the A pillar. I went through maybe 5 windshields in the LR3 and I've replaced it only once so far on the LR4.

Great suggestions! All you guy’s offered info has, or will be right on time one day. Appreciate your helping me and others. I love this Land Rover. I thought I favored others. This Discovery II is the last one, if I have rebuild the whole truck.

Y’all keep it up, Jim
