LOL. We have potholes around here that are bigger than the sand indentations on that course. Wish I had a pothole spotter that could save me from ruining a tire or needing an alignment from pothole damage.

A spotter was really helpful at this LR event I attended:

Do you imagine a bike carrier will work outside of the spare tire?

I’m about to move the spare in the LR4 from underneath to the back and not clear if my bike carrier with a 500XCW on it is still going to work.

Which is not necessarily a bad thing. I prefer the LR3 over the 4 interior so perhaps the Defender will fit the bill. Kids are mostly gome anyhow with the daughter being the primary of the LR4 at this point. Hopefully the Defender will have good road manners if I hang an enduro bike on a carrier off the back (350 lbs with carrier)?

I carry a Cannondale Habit mountain bike on a Thule spare tire mounted carrier. I haven't had any issues, but I do recommend running a bungee cord to keep the bottom of the bike tucked in against the spare.

This is on a TR rear bumper and tire carrier.

A bit of a difference between a 500cc enduro motorcycle and a mtb lol. You are not hanging that off the spare tire.

I've got to use a tray carrier for my mountain bike because it has a carbon frame. I've never tried to carry it using a vehicle with a rear-mounted spare, but I imagine it would require spacing it back quite a bit, then careful placement of the handlebars and pedals.

I'd guess carrying a motorbike with a rear mounted spare would probably introduce a whole bevy of problems.
