Ha! finally I have a "known issue" to fix on the LR3 - rear tailgate latch switch

Houm,
I'm not sure the parts are any 'better'; I just got them from Atlantic British, since they tend toward genuine parts. It's hard to say if the install would preclude a repeated failure, since it is generally done with the same parts and same fashion as original. Atlantic British has a video, and there are a few other random similar videos out there. I don't recall seeing a TSB that addresses this...

Update: upper and lower gate internals working fine however it seemed that the exterior "release button/switch" was not working anymore. No sound, no electrical impulse as fr as I could tell but then there was no way to know for sure it wasn't some other receiving part in the system.

Lucky for me a backup workaround was already in place from the original outfitting back in 2007 where I had the shop install an interior hatch release button so that if you were camping/sleeping inside you could pop it open. This button allowed me to test and confirm that the latching and other mechanisms were in fact working just fine so it must be just the exterior button/release switch.

This interior button also allows use of the cargo area for the most part on a trip where you'd load up and then unload but it would be very annoying for a trip where you wanted daily access to the cargo area and would have to climb over stuff to reach that interior button I have.

In online digging, I came across a key fob programming feature which is to make the bottom button on the fob cause a release of the rear hatch! Ironically, had I known of this feature in 2007, I may not have had that interior button installed, maybe.

Anyway, now I'll be replacing the relatively cheap exterior handle button and post if that cures the situation. Having the fob though makes it easy to procrastinate.

this lr3 upper hatch release button apparently does not exist though on the internet, not in a dealer parts diagram, not on AB, not amazon, despite the same kind of thing easily findable for the lr2 and range rover sport

I'm not sure if this is what you're after but they sell the whole upper tailgate latch as an assembly (I'm sure yoou can find it in other locations - I just happen to run across this the other day and bookmarked this one)

yeah, that's it. Thank you!

Dealer said something like 300 or more ! Apparently there is no simple "just the switch" option out there. Going to pull the interior side plastic cover off to see if there's an easy solution like a bad connection.

Yeah I've never ordered from this site...just happened to stumble across it looking for something else. I usually stick with the known vendors but sometimes I do venture out if I really need something that no one has...or just go to a pull your part.
