Hi all,

Recent new LR4 owner. Truck has newish all seasons, but I'd prefer to put a set of dedicated winter tires on it. Locally I can get a good deal on a set of snows that are new takeoffs from another vehicle, but they are not the "right" size. 255/60R19 instead of 255/55R19.

That apparently works out to 31" instead of the stock 30". I know the speedo will be off but any other issues? Will the 31" size fit without rubbing? Vehicle is totally stock in terms of suspension.

No problem fitting them, anything 31" or smaller will clear with no issues and no rubbing under all conditions. Speedo will be off a bit, but so marginally that you and the cops probably won't even notice it. ;) Only possible issue: you may have trouble running the smaller spare tire - should you ever need it - with 3 larger ones as there is a +/- 5% difference in number of revs per mile - substantial enough for the transmission to act up and potentially prevent upshifts, for example. You may want to consider buying an inexpensive, matching spare wheel and tire (assuming you now have a compact donut), or just a matching 5th tire if you have a full size spare wheel under the car, just in case.

Just saw this post. Did you buy the tires and how did that work out? I’m thinking of putting 255/60R19 on my LR4. One issue I see is that the load rating for that size is slightly lower that spec.

That size will fit fine. Beware that tires in that size tend to have a lower load rating. LR4s should ride on 111 minimum per tire.

Getting ready to pull the trigger on the Toyo Open Country AT III in 255/60r19 for my '06 LR3 HSE. Does anyone know if that size will fit underneath the truck in the back on the spare rim (which is the same 19" rim as is on the rest of the truck)?

it does not fit if inflated.
I tried and gave up. deflated it (almost completely) and it fit snugly. i keep a portable compressor in the car, so wasnt that concerned.
