Ok, I've been researching the LR4 ARB Rear Locker for years now. Every time I go down that rabbit hole it's a dead end. I haven't contacted ARB about this yet, but if someone wants to go down this rabbit hole by all means.

ARB front lockers have been around for a while and are interchangeable with the LR3. The rear lockers were known to fit (a few) and was marketed to fit the LR4 for a brief moment (2013??) and was instantly pulled due to pumpkin size differences from the LR3. ALL of ARB literature and marketing had the LR4 removed.

Lucky8 LLC, if you haven't heard of them, they specialize in Rovers and is a very reputable reseller of parts too. I just received confirmation that they will fit my 2011 LR4 HSE LUX 5.0L V8. They have this on their site https://lucky8llc.com/collections/lr4-lockers-1.

I don't have the $$ right now, someone use their stimulus check and do this! I need to live vicariously through them!

BTW... You're welcome!

I had heard that there was a rear DIFF revision mid-model year and ARB was getting complaints that the locker would not work in SOME LR4s. ARB could not pin down which LR4s were and which were not compatible, so they pulled the LR4 from the list entirely. The L8 bolt-n-go option gets around that issue.

I have had mine for 5 years and used it countless times. Front would be nice, but seems like a lot to ask of the CVs. OH, I see L8 has HD CVs now too.

G'day morrisdl......... I'm in Australia & ARB is based in my home city. They insist their rear air-locker
cannot be fitted to my mid-2014-build D4. I bought it new in December 2014 from dealer stock so I
couldn't order the factory diff lock (AUD$1065-). The vehicle was loaded with extras but no rear locker.
I got it for over $12,000- off list price so it was a no-brainer!!
I've fitted loads of gear -Kaymar rear steel bumper with wheel carrier, Brown Davis 110 liter aux. diesel
tank, Opposite Lock bull bar with Narva 225 Ultima driving lights, APT rock sliders, air-comp. guard, air-
tank guard, trans/.transfer case bash plate .......BUT I cannot get ANY KIND OF REAR DIFF LOCK. The
brilliant Harrop E-Locker is too big for the housing & they won't consider re-engineering it to fit.
No point in fitting a front ARB locker without a rear diff lock.
Does anyone know of ANY 2014 D4's with an aftermarket rear diff lock??
I must admit that I've never really needed a rear locker (yet) to get me out of a predicament. The terrain
control & wheel travel does the job, especially now I've fitted Compomotive 18" wheels with BFG KO2's.
Australia is Toyota Landcruiser country (V8 diesels) with most real 4WD'ers driving them, BUT they don't
drive as well as a D4,or ride as comfortably & are no better off-road unless they're really tricked-up. Plus
the 'Cruiser drinks lots more diesel than my 3.0lt V6.
I'm an old guy & intend to keep my D4 as long as I can keep driving. My previous Disco was a 1995 diesel
& it served me well for 20 years!

I wouldn't worry about the CVs as long as you're not going crazy. I was out on the trails yesterday with the factory locker doing two and three wheel climbs with ease. the independent suspension means the truck will lift wheels a lot so LR had to know that the CVs were stout enough to handle climbing on one axle.

I have lockers at both ends, and I have been ******* after those HD CV joints from L8.

$5K is a bit of a tough pill to swallow, especially right now, though.

The HD CV's performed flawlessly for the LR4 on 35's and the RRS on 33's during the Red Clay Rally. Both of those trucks have rear lockers.

Mine got by on happy thoughts and dreams with the stock 165k mile cv's and 33's. When it got sketchy I just pulled winch line though as to not risk it.

Reviving my own thread, I know...

I just noticed the ARB locker added the 5.0 V8 LR4s to the supported fitment on their website. https://store.arbusa.com/air-locker...pl-rd217/?Year=2011&Make=Land Rover&Model=LR4

I did a quick search and didn't find any aftermarket rear locker either. In fact, I couldn't even find a replacement part for the rear locker. AB had a motor kit. Maybe that's it. But seems more like an electric motor to maybe activate the locking differential rather than the unit itself.

Been doing a little research on lockers and it seems like there are two types, electrical and air pump activated. I would assume the LR4 is electrical. If so, seems like they might momentarily unlock when you change from forward to reverse, or the opposite. Doesn't seem to be a lot of info on what the LR4 rear locker is or how it works, at least that I can find.

The locker(s) on the LR4 are electronic.

They can be disengaged, partially engaged, or fully engaged. There is a lot of witchcraft going on when you off road, and the lockers and Terrain Response do a tremendous job together. I have the center and rear locker and have never felt the need for a front locker.
