Like most of you, I hate the stop start feature. I'm trying to solve how my wife's is "turned off" and how to get mine to stop working as well.

- 2 x 2015 LR4 LUX. Same exact features and options except mine has HD package

- her stop start just doesn't work. No lights, no faults, all wires and leads connected inside and under the hood. When I press the ECO button, I still get the "ECO off" Amber light. Otherwise, it doesn't work... Which is amazing!

- on mine, I disconnected the motorcycle battery and got a charging system fault. Disconnected the BMS connector from the main battery, same fault.

Maybe this is just a rant, but I have also wondered about the brake light switch. Her switch looks like mine, but maybe it's not. Since the system uses that switch, maybe there is a model without start Stop?

- I've also checked the ccfs using the gap tool and don't see and option to just turn it off.

I just want my car to be exactly like hers. No start stop, but also no fault lights, and I don't have to press the button every time I get in the car.

What are everyone's thoughts on the brake light switch, or other solutions? I've read the threads and most just live with the fault light, or pressing the button each time.

Anyone else have an anomaly like my wife's truck? And have you pinned down what makes it special?

Thanks!

I replaced the battery with a jet ski battery from autozone. Light went off and it never does the start/stop anymore. I'm happy with it

Thanks brother. That is a great suggestion. I'll look at the differences between her ECO battery and mine.. honestly didn't do that. Do you remember the specs off the top of your head? I would love to look it up.

One thing I didn't try was connect the positive and ground for the motorcycle battery and removing it all together. Win would be extra space and a non-functional start stop. I'm not sure if the lack of "resistance" would anger her though..

Duralast gold ETX12. Had to put a few shims under it and rig it a bit...

Interesting that you should mention the brake switch. That got me thinking, the stop start on my 15MY doesn't engage if the brake pedal is softly applied at a standstill, but if its applied with a bit more enthusiasm then the system stops the engine. So is it a 2 position switch with the second position being for the stop start system?

So looking at the part numbers for the V8 compared to the V6 LR4 we have a different part for the different engines.

XKB500110 for the V8

LR072647 for the V6

May be worth swapping out a switch and see what happens. For 40 bucks it could be worth a go. Assuming that its a straight swap of course.

Stuart.

At first glance, the connectors look the same. I don't mind being the guinea pig on this one. I'll let you know what happens lol

My 2015 did the same thing. It was a Power Distribution module that failed, didn't throw any codes or Amber lights. Not knowing any better, I had the dealer replaced the module under warranty.

If you fix yours, i'll buy your module from you! :call:

Now I live with the eco battery disconnected and Amber light on the dash.

Haha if I find a way to make it fail, I'll let you know.

Otherwise, I'm exploring the brake switch and seat belt sensor. I'll report results once I figure something out.
