Sort of a long story, but I'll try to keep it short.

Been going on for a while. (No, I haven't been driving it much)

It feels like it running fine. I wouldn't notice any loss of power or rough running at any RPM.

I took it to a decent shop, but no not Rover experts and we was stumped and suggested I look into it otherwise I risked just guessing at repairs to rule stuff out. What we both though was very odd was it doesn't throw codes while hooked up to his scan tool.

Besides the codes, it's doing an occasional no-start.

Plugs and wires are new-ish. 75k miles on it.

Codes:
P1300
P0300
P0301
P0305
P0306
P0307
P0308

So where do I start.

Sounds like a MAF issue, it may be dirty or the air box lid is not on correctly. I would also check the battery just to make sure it isn't going dead.

I'm fixing my boat so my lift bay is taken with another annoying project. Hoping to get further into the Rover this weekend.

No issue that I can tell with plugs/wires.

I don't believe it is the MAF, but we'll clean it just for fun.

The more I think about the random no start and all the misfires....I'm going to put a crank sensor in it and see if cures it. We'll see.

Definitely electrical, because its happening on both coil packs start with spark plug wires " check them in the dark if they are grounding you will see the spark jumping. If not than check your coil packs.

P1300 is a mulit spark failure code, P0300 is kind of the same, but can range from spark to injectors.

P0301 thru P0308 are specific spark plugs. The problem is they are on different coil packs. Cylinders 1,6 and 7 are on one coil pack and 5 and 8 are on the other. Looks like this is definitely electrical.

I haven't driven it enough to call the crank sensor a success, however in 3 short trips the problem hasn't come back. I'l give it at least a few more days and report back. I'm hopeful, but not getting my hopes up.

When I did the crank sensor, why would it have oil in the plug/connector? That's pretty much a weather proof connection on that plug. Like most rovers, it has some seepage but no major leaks....but even if it did, how would oil get in that plug? It looked wet and laid the old one on the arm of my lift with the plug hanging down. It was enough that there were a couple small drips on the ground. Anyone have any ideas on this?

I just changed mine and it was perfectly dry. And BTW it did not fix the no start problem I'm having.

I'm trying not to get my hopes up, but so far so good. No codes and starting fine.

What's going on with yours?
