All v6 are inherently less smooth than an inline 6 cylinder would be, or a v8 due to the optimal V angle being 120 degrees, whereas most v6 are 60 degrees due to packaging reasons.

that said, i feel like the scv6 is pretty smooth and quiet aside from the typical sound of the direct injection pumps and injectors.

The SCV6 and the V8 have the same V angles.

but the v6 has offset crank pins so the firing events still happen every 120 degrees Like they would in a 60 degree v6 but it’s still not naturally balanced

The shop foreman at my dealer said they are well aware of the possible crossover pipe failures but have only seen one happen so far. He commented that it is probably more prone to failure in climates where it is warm year-round.

My wife’s LR4 had it happen here in Houston at 27K miles. Thankfully it happened on the drive way and we noticed the leak while idling. Had to have it towed to dealer for roughly $800 repair.

My LR3 has 230,000 miles on it and the engine went at 150,000 because the damned coolant recovery bottle sprung a leak and because the temperature sensor is located on the bottom of it, did not register the heat rise (REALLY STUPID DESIGN.) During our riots here, I drove it to LA hoping that someone would firebomb it. LOL It may be a peice of crap, but it's MY piece of crap.

Those are the correct parts for the 3.0 V6 S/C. I changed all of those on mine when I replaced them. They are charging you to pull the supercharger which is technically what needs to be done to do the job.

Unfortunatly, it doesn't sound far off from my dealer.

I replaced my coolant pipes myself, and messed up when connecting 2 harness plugs in the back of the intake manifold (the harness' plugs were swapped with each other). I ended up with a no start issue. the dealer charged me $700 of the pleasure of removing the intake manifold and swapping the harness plugs. about a 45 minute job.

Anyway, assuming I hadn't messed up those harness plugs, i had this job done in my driveway in 3 hours. by the time i was done trying to troubleshoot my no start issue, i could have had this job done in under 2 hours. Mind you, mine is a V8.

Back to your quote....maybe its a V6 only part, but Im not sure what LR09299 is. there were only 2 pipes for the V8.
on top of that, you have $200 of gaskets (i reused all of mine) and $60 of coolant ($15 of dexcool from autozone is enough). the dealer would never reuse gaskets or aftermarket coolant though....so its kind of expected.

Yeah, agree. I am going to look up the labor hours on the job. If you are doing the back pipes, my understanding is that the fronts are a give me. At this price it looks like they are just quoting each jobs labor hours separately and adding them together. Definitely calling and indy today.

If you end up going the dealer or indy route and they pull your supercharger i'd have them also change the isolator bearing and supercharger oil while you have it out as the part is cheap and pulling the charger is 95% of the labor involved in doing that.
