Only thing I heard about them is that the Diesel engine needs to be driven, shorter trips build up a lot of deposits. A Range with extra range would be nice.

All post-2007 Diesel vehicles, which all have Diesel particulate filters, need to be frequently driven at highway speeds for extended periods to keep the expensive-to-replace DPFs from getting plugged up with carbon.

The comment re "all post-2007 vehicles" with DPF's indicates that the U.S.- sold diesel vehicles differ from
other parts of the World. My 2014-built D4 3.0 liter V6 diesel does not have a DPF. Neither does my 2013
Chrysler 300 with the Italian-built 3.0 liter V6 turbo diesel. That engine is also the most popular in the Jeep Grand Cherokee here. In my opinion it's actually a slightly better motor than my D4's & I drove them
both every week, but then the D4 is much heavier. Both great motors. I guess you can tell I'm a diesel
man through and through. I kept my Disco 1 from 1995 until 2014. That old 2.5 liter 4cyl. 300TDi never
let me down - engine wise, for almost 20 years & 245,000 klm's.
I'm very happy that I don't have vehicles with DPF's or Ad-Blu for exhaust emissions.

For the record I have no concerns or issues with the diesel motor, have had several in my life previously so I’m a fan. it’s the normal Range Rover anxiety that has to do with the electronics quitting or not working, suspension faults, or other expensive items. Nothing new but we all know what we are entering into at some level when we buy these vehicles. Thanks for all the comments, I’ll let you know what happens.

That looks great in the photos. I'd grab it too! At our time of life & in these difficult times Worldwide we
need to have things that we really enjoy, even if sometimes they cause us a bit of grief & damage our
wallets.

Such an amazing vehicle enjoy it!

But do a good check of the brakes, open the bonnet check the engine and air suspension.
Our air suspension was broken at the top no idea how we missed this on our RR!
Is this normal??

You're absolutely right. The DPF completely eliminates any smoke (which is good) but I miss the distinctive fragrance of diesel exhaust, which is neutralized by DEF (diesel exhaust fluid). I'm just happy to have the same big Td6 in my Disco that is only otherwise available in the RR and RR Sport. The new Defender is not available with a diesel in the U.S.

G'day ar077. I assume your TD6 is in a current shape Disco (D5)?? You mention DEF - we know it as
"Ad-Blu" a liquid urea-based additive injected into diesel exhausts to assist burning of unwanted emissions.
Is that standard on the big diesel D5 in the U.S.? No problem with that product unless you run out of it
while driving a long way from civilization. Most brands say it'll usually last between routine services, but
a lot of offroaders would disagree. Long-haul truckers here carry gallons of the stuff just in case.
We don't yet have the new Defender on sale here & nobody can advise if the 2.0 liter diesels that will be
the biggest sellers here will require Ad-Blu (DEF). I assume they'll all have DPF's.
We're still not seeing many D5's on the road here.
It's another reason why the D4's here have appreciated in value & are like rocking horse **** if you're
trying to find a good low-mileage example in the market.

G'day to you, RobRover88! I do USAF fighter aircraft OT&E (operational test and evaluation) at Nellis AFB, Nevada, and one of our F-15E Strike Eagle pilots is an RAAF pilot on an exchange assignment (I also have a close Aussie friend who lives in ACT).

"Ad-Blu" is also the more common term here for DEF. I was just using the official nomenclature that appears on Ad-Blu containers. The D5's 18 liter Ad-Blue tank is good for about 4000 miles and it starts warning you at about 1000 miles remaining. Since the routine service interval for the Td6 is 16,000 miles (which amazes me--I change the oil in my garage half-way through that interval) I end up having to add Ad-Blu at least three times. I keep a good supply on hand and carry a 10 liter container on long trips.

D5s are not common here, either, which doesn't bother me since I've always preferred to own niche vehicles. The 2020 D5 bested the 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee in a comparo article in the August 2020 issue of Motor Trend Magazine, which I just received in the post last week.
