2015 LR4 LUX 66000 miles.

We just moved to TN from GA (~400 miles) and my wife stated the the rover "felt weird". I drove it for the next couple of days. I drove to work with no issues, but after starting the car again (~ 1hr later) it was idling poorly. I drove it a mile up the road and a CEL finally popped. I checked it with the GAP tool and it was P0267- injector 3 circuit low.

I reset the code and it immediately came back.

I called a couple of local indys but they were all booked until next week. Limped it the 10 miles home and attached were the new codes. I pulled the injector harness for the 3rd injector and reseated the others. I cleared the codes and restarted the car and the CEL has not returned for the last couple of days.

The engine is driving fine now, but the drive train feels like it is dragging (coasting on the highway without depressing the throttle). I'm sure the drive train just needs some new fluids, but what are your thoughts on the CEL?

Preemptively replace all injectors and plugs while I'm in there? Any thoughts on the catalyst damage and what would that "feel" like?

Personally, I would swap all of it at the same time while I'm at it for a peace of mind. Before you do that, check all your seals around the valve cover for any leaks. do a compression test on all cylinders and/or just cylinder 3. Compression above 150 is ok, 170-190 is great, and 190+ is excellent. If all is well, just replace all the injectors yourself you if you're mechanically inclined. You may want to check for carbon build up on your intake valves, super easy to do by taking off the intake manifold.

In my DIY Timing Chain guide, it'll help with removing the injectors and checking the intake valves for carbon build up. https://www.landroverworld.org/threads/diy-timing-chain.31050/

Wow... here's a deal for you on the injectors. https://www.ebay.com/itm/For-Land-R...836261&hash=item51f7f3ec05:g:fYcAAOSww9xZDFEe

Thanks for your thoughts and for the eBay link. That's a great find and I can order the six that I need.

I am sure I wasn't clear in the first post and would still like feedback:

- would you replace the injectors preemptively or leave it alone since the code has not returned?

- any worries with the catalyst damage reported by the code? There are no symptoms of a bad cat, but I'm sure my brain will make me find fault in something that probably isn't there.

I would 100% leave it alone.

I wouldn't worry about the cats either, unless it's making sounds and/or smelling like rotten eggs.

I’d pay a little more to buy the coils from fcpeuro so you have their lifetime warranty. They’re $730ish plus $30. Assuming you keep your vehicles until they die you’ll probably replace the injectors at least one more time.

Update:

Injector code stayed away, but misfire returned. I limped it to the nearest shop and they were nice enough to order me some new parts and work on it in their parking lot.

Swapped the plugs first and here are the old ones (67000 miles).

Misfire continues. Swapped the coils around and the misfire follows the number three coil. Cool. New coils ordered (Bremi) .

Install new coils and receive misfired across all cylinders and the truck shuts down. Weird. Check work and everything is connected. Start truck again, get misfired, and the truck shuts down again.

Swap back in old coils and she starts and stays running, but misfire remains.

Ordered Delphi coils and am now awaiting the UPS truck...

Sorry you're going through all this. I've been down this rabbit hole myself. I've swapped out both hpfp, spark plugs, ignition coils, but I've never had misfires follow a coil. It was either bank 1 or bank 2 that completely misfired. Mine turned out to be the maf sensors.

URO Parts actually worked out pretty well for me. They ran very similar to OEM at a very reasonable price. Good luck hunting.

Update #2

Delphi coils finally arrived and went in today. Installed driver side, dropped my socket, and had to raise the vehicle

- she started right up with the three new ignition coils, but still had a misfire. Shut her down, found my socket and wrench wedged between the front diff and frame and continued working.

Installed the passenger side coils, put everything back together and started her up.

- no misfire for 1/2 second and she died. Tried to restart and she just turned over. Tried to start a third time; she started and then died. This time, there are codes.

Any ideas? I'm thinking engine harness, or a loose connection on the passenger side, but on the back of the engine.

Any thoughts on why new coils would make the engine shut down, and the old coils would just throw a misfire?

Any help would be much appreciated!

I'd assume bad wiring harness, leading up to the injectors. Maybe the wire was bad prior to install, moved and made worse during install. Open circuit for all injectors would not be an actual injector issue

Agreed, and thank you for the sanity check! The wiring harness is actually reasonably priced for a LR part (~$600), but we will see if that is the culprit-- I turned over the gremlin-hunting to a local indy. Hopefully, they can find the issue and resolve it quickly...
