G'day again ar077. Nice to hear you're keeping up with our culture. No doubt your RAAF pal has improved your beer-drinking skills! I hope no more of our RAAF E/A-18 Growlers burn up at Nellis. We can't afford to replace those nifty machines.
Your Ad-Blu useage is about the same as I hear from drivers of other (inferior) brands. It's a shame that
the World's diesel engineers cannot design a "clean-running" diesel without having to resort to spraying
liquid fertiliser into the exhaust. Lead-free gas contains nasty chemical additives to raise the octane rating. They are cancer-causing, but nobody seems to care about THEM!
My body won't allow me to get under my D4 to do oil changes, so I rely on my long-serving indy mechanic
to do whatever I need. He did the same with my previous 1995 TDi300 diesel Disco. His wife drives a Jeep
Grand Cherokee Hemi V8 so he also understands my Chrysler 300 diesel. I'm lucky to have him around.
I need to check with him re the crossover pipes in the cooling system to see if there's any similar connection with the LR V8 & SCV6 crossover problems that have been talked about in another thread on this forum. Have you looked into that situation with your D5 TDV6??
Your 'sliders look great on the D5. I looked into Lucky 8's, but found APT Offroad in Brisbane last year.
They build excellent protection gear for D4's so I got them to fit 'sliders, Trans/Transfer case, Air comp. & air-tank guards at the same time. He's frustrated that he can't design gear for the D5 due to the lack of a chassis. He's now sold his D5 having twisted it a couple of times. They are terrific offroad, but here there's
a lack of aftermarket protection gear available. I guess the aftermarket guys can't justify the design cost for such a small market. At least we can now get virtually everything for the D4, except side rails from the bullbar. Enjoy driving your NV & Utah deserts - I've covered a lot of ground there over the past 40 years.

Guys, currently in a LR4 that I love but time to move on. Came across a 2016 HSE td6, was not looking for this vehicle but here I am, face to face with this beautiful beast - someone tell me to run away or maybe take a closer look. Dark green color, black wheels, 65k miles asking price is $37k - sticker said it went for $110 when new. What say you?
If you know your Rovers then you're staying go on the maintenance of your vehicle, and are aware of the various engine related issues, so I say go for it, as 37 is not bad for a 4 year old vehicle that listed for 110 new. Check out the Carfax and go for it.

RobRover88, copy all and thanks for the feedback! I'd heard about the cooling system crossover pipe problem but haven't investigated into whether it could affect the Td6. Since you brought it up I'll definitely check into that.
I'm very happy with the Lucky 8 Rock Sliders. The set weighs over 200 lbs and each side had to be positioned using a floor jack. They bolt on using existing but unused threaded holes in the subframe (possibly for the optional factory side steps) and the fit is absolutely perfect. You can see how robust they are at

.

They were pricey but worth it when compared to the cost of repairing the damage that could otherwise result when taking advantage of the D5's capabilities.
Considering the vast array of top quality Australian after market off-road hardware and accessories (ARB, Old Man Emu, etc.) that's available in the U.S., I'm not surprised that there isn't much selection of U.S. made gear in Australia. Why should you buy it from us when you already make it yourselves?

ar077; nice video!! very similar to my APT Offroad 'sliders, although APT put a slotted-steel top on mine to make them better as a step. I intend to put on additional rubber seals to keep water & mud ingress
down a bit more, as the 'sliders replace the OE plastic sills & leave a small gap.
That D5 in the vid looks good with Compomotive 18" wheels. I'm very happy with my Compo's & BFG
KO2's (265/60-18) The vastly tougher sidewalls give me a lot more confidence in areas with flinty rocks.
Unfortunately, due to Covid-19 we're "locked-down". We cannot cross state borders at the moment.
In fact Melbourne folks cannot leave the greater city area for the next few weeks at least. So offroading
is illegal in this state - $1652- fines apply!! Staying home & dreaming.
