Hey all

Was changing the seals in the front air suspension block the other day and came across this just hanging behind the passenger side wheel trim. Wasn't mounted to anything.. just sitting there. Any ideas what it is (temp sensor of some sort maybe?) and where it normally lives? Looks like it's made by Siemens.

Cheers

FWIW I asked this same question at my local dealership, and they also said it doesn't matter where it is as long as it's secure. You can zip tie it to w/e as long as it is secure and not in the way of something else.

I wondered the same thing, tempered seeing a wiring diagram of the tpms system a while back and figured that’s the antenna. However it took me a bit to know where to put it. Turns out, two of the plastic body push clips in the fender liner forward of the front tire that have Phillips head screws in them actually hold that antenna to the wheel well shield/fender liner... I had removed those screws when taking the liner out to get to the same air suspension valve block, and it released the antenna on the other side. Easy to put back. Now I know not to unscrew those next time.

If you look at the wheel well plastic, there are 2 holes, pretty much on center in front of the wheel/tire. LR uses plastic screws and expansion grommets to secure the antenna to the fender well plastic. These can pretty much be found at any auto parts store.

Half the time I’m taking the fender plastics off I forget what they are and take them off when removing the plastic. The good news is that you can secure them with the fender plastic out, then as you’re Re-installing the fender plastic the cable reaches such that you can plug the antenna in, then finish fitting the plastic in place.
