Where did this thing come from? Link?

If I can work that with my existing panel, i will be doing your thing too.

Nice.

I was going to be part of the initial pre-order run, but found out that it was a little over $500 for it. I declined, since I have a 100W panel mounted to my FRO rack. It's slick, but I think I can do a lot more with $500.

Yeah, the actual solar panel is less than $500 but the entire kit with wiring was not cheap. I had considered mounting an actual panel to the hood (there’s a local LR shop that does LR3 and LR4 overlanding mods) and it looks really slick.

I liked the thought of having something more streamlined and more “reversible” than drilling the hood. Also, the convenience of having the setup always ready seemed to make the most sense.

Hopefully the cost of these come down a bit. They are a great idea and certainly if it works the way I think it will, should be useful in my adventures in the backcountry

I like the thought that it is always on and providing a some charge to the battery(ies) during daylight. Should help to alleviate some of the issues with out horrendous "smart" charging versus what I currently run which is only set up when stationary.

@avslash I have a 100W panel bolted to the front of my FRO roof rack for THAT exact reason. Tired of the whole battery charging issue.

I added a front pivot point on the panel so that I can tilt the panel up and stuff fire logs under it, which also acts as a wind deflector for my RTT. The panel up top is fine for now, but I lose a lot of real estate up there.
