I just finished installing the NavPlus unit in an LR4. Overall, I'm happy with it and it's great being able to use CarPlay in the car - really modernizes it. I feel it's overpriced though - it should be more around the $500-600 mark.

Would you be able to post a video or something on just running through the menus? It's been intriguing me for a while... Kind of curious how responsive it is.

Did you opt for the wireless CarPlay option?

This is the dongle guys. Its pretty expensive. I personally wouldn't drop this kind of cash, but if carplay is that important to you then i guess its worth it. I got it from a buddy of mine for free who had it installed on his 2010 LR4. You hold down the Navigation button on the menu and it takes you into the carplay interface.

Also its been a few days later and i tried everything trying to get this screen to turn on. I got fed up and just ordered one off of ebay. I disconnected the battery, checked the fuses, and let the vehicle sit untouched for a day hoping it'll somehow by the love of God sort itself out.

Here's a youtube link of how the dongle works in a LR3,

Looks like the video is actually an L322 FFRR.

Yep, I’m planning on putting together a short review post soon. Was wanting to get some more experience with it first.

I did go the wireless option. Very occasionally it has problems connecting, but on the whole it’s very convenient. As for responsiveness, it’s not bad. I’d guess the update rate is a few frames per second and there’s usually a 0.5-1 second interactivity delay, but still completely useable and it doesn’t feel clunky. CarPlay limits the animations so you don’t notice it most of the time.

And what I’m most excited about is GaiaGPS is planning to release CarPlay support (it’s in beta right now), so you’ll be able to navigate with Forest Service maps.

BMW has a version of this sort of video Aux Input Carplay adapter. It's only $250 on Amazon/AliExpress/Ebay. Guess they always like to charge LR owners a little extra.

how difficult was this to install? could someone with essentially no car electronics experience do it?
