I own both a 2012 LR4 & a 2012 RR Supercharged. They both have in excess of 100,000 miles but both have been maintained within regular service intervals and any issue has been addressed. My mechanic (not the LR dealer) says I should sell both because he thinks this vintage LR products are vulnerable for catastrophic engine failure. He’s had two of this generation with engine failures. Both of our cars run great but I’m now nervous since he’s told me to sell or trade them.
Please offer your advice. LR4 - 125,000 miles —— RR Supercharged - 115,000 miles. THX!

Welcome to the forum. Like any Newer Euro vehicle you can have engine failures. Land rover/merc/bmw/audi pick a brand and they all have horror stories. If you maintain them, don't over heat them, they will last a long time.

2012 LR4 and RR Supercharged:
Yes, I know that. I have had numerous European vehicles.
I also have a small collection of cars including German marques.
I was hoping to hear from owners of the same generation LR4 & RR Supercharged what their experiences have been with well maintained, similar mileage cars. The concern is from my mechanic who works on various European cars but is not an exclusive LR mechanic.
Thx very much.

Per my good friend Nathan (he buys and sells Rovers for a living) the LR4 is one of the Best rovers made so far. The Supercharged V8 is a different animal, this can have timing chain issues and be very expensive.

Thx very much for your message.
Do you recommend any proactive mechanical work for the RR to prevent catastrophic failure?

It is expensive as far as I know, but more expensive if it starts making noise.
