sharing an experience I found helpful, and posting as it could assist others out there.
eco mode on my car stopped working about 4 few years ago. I didn't mind so much and just went on with life.
I replaced the main battery about 3 years ago.
about 6 months ago I started getting a low battery warning. Shows an icon of your main battery and alerts you to start the car to charge the battery. it became 100% reproducible and consistent.
this would occur whenever my keys were recognized by the vehicle, the ignition could be on or off - but would NOT occur when the engine was running.
I took the car to a non-dealer shop, they said the main battery was healthy, but that the auxiliary battery needed to be replaced. I went ahead and completed this service. the low battery warning went away briefly. The very next day it popped up again. the same shop retested both batteries and confirmed they were totally healthy and suggested it's something with the sensor.
went to a dealer and had them look. they also confirmed both batteries were healthy, but recommended a battery monitoring system reset to fix the warning light. I went ahead with the service (75 bucks).
Lo and behold, this not only fixed the warning light but my eco mode is working again as expected. crazy.
I would never have expected such a low priced service could resolve two significant issues with the vehicle.
