Hi,

We bought a Disco 4 2013 recently. I've noticed my bluetooth phone calls are really crackly. Some all are good, some are average, it even varies during a call. The other person hears me clearly. There is also small rare glitched when playing bluetooth music.

It's not phone reception, I put in some bluetooth headphones and connection is fine.

Anyone else having this problem?

The Bluetooth in the LR4 is weak. Where do you have your phone when this happens? If I have mine in my left pants pocket, the music often skips or buffers. I have to take it out of my pocket and put it somewhere in the center, such as the cubby to the right of the traction-mode selector* or in one of the cup holders.

*To add yet another wrinkle, I have found that phone calls (but not music) sometimes crackle even from here.

I just acquired a 2013 LR4 last Friday and have been impressed with the Bluetooth performance from my iPhone7+. Both phone calls and streaming music have worked very well through the onboard BT. I usually keep my phone in one of those mounts that fits in the CD slot, so it is very close to the head unit during operation.

We had a similar problem with my wife’s iPhone 6 when going to a new iOS (I think it was iOS 10). It was eventually fixed by Apple (and she hasn’t had that issue on her iPhone 7). This is on a 2012 LR4 which I believe is the same entertainment system as the 2013. If you’ve recently updated your OS that could be the issue.

Sounds like an iOS issue then, I keep my phone on a mount on the a/c vent. My wife tells me she didn't have problems pre iOS11...

Hi, new to the forum as I just picked up a 2013 LR4.

Did anyone find a solution to the crackling?

I was wondering if there was a separate speaker for phone calls

Is there a way to reset the head unit?

Weird. I don't know when, but this problem totally went away somewhere along the line. I know I got an iPhone 11 Pro last November, but I'm about 90% sure it went away a long time before then, and I was using an iPhone 6S for the 3 or 4 years previous. May have been a firmware/software issue with the Phone.
