What do you all think? Rear end still looks rubbish? I think they tried their best to make cosmetic visual changes because they are still confined to the existing sheet metal stamping. The next generation will have to be the real big change in design, so we are stuck with the awkward oblong dimensions of the rear end for a while.

at this point I’m thinking the new Defender will be my next vehicle.

I don’t think the facelift changes anything for most buyers. Wouldn’t make me upgrade. The new engine is unproven so reliability may be poor from the onset.

Bigger touchscreens are nice. Different shift knob is net neutral.

Getting rid of the turn knob almost makes me want to trade in mine. I can't tell you how much I hate those things. The rest of the changes look fairly modest. I can do without the two-tone seats, but whatever.

Here's a link with good photos, btw: https://www.caranddriver.com/land-rover/discovery

I think the back actually looks much better than it did before, the lights are much sleeker as well as the colors make it look much better, still disappointed about the lopsided tailgate.

We were looking seriously at the Discovery last year (and the Lexus GX460).

But once the Defender came out it was an easy decision.

That said I think the restyling looks good on the Discovery.

To me, this body will always look like it was 'designed' from a brief saying we want this much space inside but make it fit on a Volkswagen Polo frame. The proportions are all kinds of weird from length behind the rear wheels to the width/height ratios, the rounded front, etc. I just find it to be a very ugly car, no matter what they do to it. Sadly, that's pretty much my view of everything that LR/Jag puts out these days though.
