Did you program your key without issue? I just busted my own copy today and should get ny gap tool on Tuesday. I ordered it on wed, so decent timing on my part. I have 2013 and have two new ebay key fobs ($100 bucks for the pair).

Hoping the tool works or ill have water two more days and will still have to send it in to the shop too. Uggg.

On your laptop turn off any virus protection software temporarily. That may help.

So in my 2014 LR4, I went to the BCM-Body control to add a key and this is the message I got: "This version of Key Module May Need to be Unlocked. Contact GAP". I had to start a conversation and follow some steps to program the KVM module in the ECU. GAP will walk you through the steps via email.

I don't want to provide the steps here as the steps might be different for your VIN number. That's something you can work with GAP.

The steps weren't bad at all. It just took some emailing back and forth with GAP. My main issue was that I didn't see the Micro USB cable in the box and all three cables I had were not appropriate Micro USB cables. That was preventing me from update the tool Firmware which was a required step to program a new key in my case.

The only concern I have for you is that you might need to have a working key on you. I think I saw a message about that during the steps to add the key. If your existing key doesn't work at all, you might have an issue :-( If I had to guess, they use the old key presence to authenticate and allow programming a new key?!
Also, make sure the new key has a working battery installed.

Confirming for the gap tool you need at least one working key. Patrick replied to my email with that info.

The good news is, a auto locksmith was able to come program the two eBay keys I had. No trip or tow to the dealership needed.

So relieved to have gotten past this bump!

Glad it worked out :-D I had no idea that locksmiths are so advanced these days haha! Good to know.

I think it is hit or miss. I was super skeptical when I called usaa for a tow and they said they had auto locksmith service they could send as well, but, it worked! I was giddy. Lol.
