I own a 2010 LR4 HSE w/ 109,000 miles. I was driving not too long ago and my "charging fault" light came on... I drove further and then the dash started going through a bunch of faults - suspensions fault, differential fault and maybe more as it happened fast... then the entire dash shut down but the car was running decent.- sort of felt like it was driving in some sort of safe mode - actually kind of felt like the snow mode on the 4wd. Then it all came back on and i haven't had the problem the last dozen or so times i drove it. Feels almost like the computer flaked out and restarted. I did just recently have a lot of work done on it but none was electrical. (new radiator, water pump, crossover, timing cover gasket, & new fuel injectors.) anyone have this issue before??

for those that ask - all that work was done for $7000 by reputable shop who does LandRovers (really impressed with their work). I am so disappointed in owning this vehicle. I restore old Jeeps so know a little about engines, electrical, etc.. but the LR4 is like a space shuttle to me when i open the hood. no idea what's what

well, ill go with the assumption you have a charging fault issue.

First thing that comes to mind is the alternator. the timing chain cover can leak directly onto the alternator, causing failure. inspect the front of the engine for any oil.

also, Id assume with all that work, the shop disconnected the battery. make sure both terminals are seated correctly.

EDIT: old/failing batteries also cause random electrical issues. do you now the batteries age? if 3+ years, have it tested and consider replacement.

i'll test if the alternator is charging and i'll test the battery. interesting theory on the alternator in that it did have oil on it but cleaned off now that the leak is fixed

surprised a faulty alternator would cause all those faults. seems like I should still have dash lights if it started just a few minutes before and ran great and started great since.

electrical supply issues will cause ridiculous kinds of errors on these trucks.
