Amsoil signature series. 15k mile intervals. Tested at black stone labs. Plenty of life left in it.

I bought one of the oil evacuators from Harbor Freight, think its a "Holt". When I tried to use it, the rubber adapters were such a hard rubber I couldn't get it onto the tube under the oil cap to suck out the oil. What model evacuators are you guys using, and are the rubber connectors a soft rubber?

This is the first vehicle I have owned that requires the oil to be changed this way, I usually prefer the old school drain plug method.

MITYVAC 7201

i use it across my LR4, audi and MB.
comes with multiple tubes, with rubber ends, and ive never had an issue of it fitting any of these cars.

rubber is soft enough to fit over, yet hard enough to form a good seal.

as mentioned Mityvac but if you want to do it the old fashioned way you can. Fill your boots.

Try modding the adapters that came with the Holt. Maybe take a high speed drill and sharp bit to ream it out just enough to fit?

Maybe MityVac would sell you a set of the adapters that come with their unit. I would think you could source something that would work, otherwise. As mentioned by others the MityVac comes with an assortment of adapters and mates very well with the tube. So much so that I used to use needle nose pliers to take it off the tube when finished, until I noticed that I wasn't doing the rubber around the seal any favors.

I use a Mityvac as well. I usually use the rubber adapter, but one of the tubes that came with the Mityvac actually slips over the dip tube. Not a tight fit, but if you slip it over far enough, it’s a good enough seal to suck the oil out. Not sure if that might work with the Holt.

Whether I use the adapter or just the plastic tube I get about the same amount of air being sucked up with the oil - lots of bubbles. Figured it was normal, but maybe I’m using too much pressure. Anyway, it works.

This may be redundant, but it's not exactly 'required'. But considering the giant time consuming PITA it is to get to the drain plan (on mine anyway) the evacuator is your best bet.
