Sorry to start a new thread, but what I am experiencing doesn't seem to correspond to what all the threads say. I recently got the warning light on the dash for rear brake pads. My bad. I put the truck up on the lift and replaced pads and the sensor. However, the light remains on the dash. All the threads seem to indicate it should go out. Do I just need to give it a little time and a few miles? Is there way to get into the menus to reset it? I have a Foxwell NT510, but I don't have the Land Rover software yet. Only the BMW software.

Any help would be appreciated.

The light should go out with a new sensor. My understanding is when the sensor contacts the rotor you break continuity and you get a brake warning. If you didn't get the connector fully seated you would still show the continuity break and a brake warning. Or you have a broken wire in the new sensor.

My understanding is when the sensor contacts the rotor you break continuity and you get a brake warning.

I thought it was the other way around. I thought that the metal disk actually completed the circuit by wearing away the casing protecting the contacts, exposing the contacts and triggering the sensor when the contacts touch the metal rotor. In theory the contact now being recessed means that the circuit is no longer closed so it doesn't trip the sensor anymore.

The safe thing to do is to replace the sensor. There is a reason the leads are encased. Once it trips, material could have smeared across or corrosion could have caused a bridge causing the sensor to trip.

Went through this quite recently after getting conflicting info on this forum. There are two wires in the sensor, connected through the delicate little contact which gets worn through by the rotating disc. Check for continuity at the pins in the harness. Mine looked OK but did not show continuity, hence the warning light.

I replaced my rear brakes and sensor a few months ago and the light went off immediately. Check the connection, if that's secure then you prolly have a bad sensor.

which side the rear sensor on? The driver or passenger rear? I have plenty meat on my pads, but the sensor tripped. I'm just going to head out and tie the wires off to get rid of the light. I would do some investigation as to what side its on, but its currently raining and i just want to be in and out in 5 mins.

I'd be careful just getting rid of the light. The caliper pins on these trucks need a lot of attention.

I had a sensor go off and all of my brake pads were about where you would expect them, except one which was almost completely gone.

You probably have a pad that wore unevenly and should visually inspect all of them.

passenger rear. The sensors are finicky and gimmicky. Ditch them and check your brakes 1-2 times a year. I recommend cleaning and greasing the caliper pins yearly anyhow.

Yeah dude i know what you mean, but i'm pretty savvy mechanically. I check my brakes religiously so i don't need the light anyways.
