Sedona huh? You planning on doing any off roading once you're up and running? I've been itching to drive up to Sedona and do some of the trails there.

Funny enough I actually run a Jeep rental company up here so I'm out on the trails all the time in the company Jeeps doing trail maintenance! I'd love to take this LR4 up Broken Arrow and see what I can break though! haha, you should definitely come up and do some trails! Maybe wait until around September though, we are in the heat of tourism season and it's mayhem here. Hard to enjoy the sights in stop-n-go traffic

Quick update:
Replaced all injectors, coil packs, and spark plugs on bank 1.

Still misfiring on cylinder 5 only.

Don’t really mind throwing parts at it as its due for a lot of this stuff anyways, I figure it’s preventative maintenance going forward. But damn I’d like to be able to drive it at some point! Haha

I guess that pretty much narrows it down to rings or valves though which means it’s all gotta come back apart!

If anyone can think of any last minute Hail Marys to try let me know, otherwise, it’s wait for the new leak down tester and probably pull the head after that! Woohoo

I know that's frustrating. Did you already check compression in number 5? At least between leak down and compression test, you would know which parts to order.

Last thoughts: have you traced the coil connector harness? I don't think it's the injector harness given the fuel in the plug. But, it may be worthwhile to check continuity in the circuit prior to pulling the head. Especially if the leak down and compression test come back within spec.

Yeah I'll hit you up around September if I'm not in training for work.

I'm borrowing a leak-down tester from a friend this afternoon so I'll know a little more after that, but you make a good point with the coil harness. I'll get the multimeter out and check it in the meantime. Good idea, thanks!!

Hope it's a small issue. As long as I've been on the forums here I don't think I've read of any dead cylinders or valve train issues.

What code reader are you using? If you want (probably) the most Land Rover oriented one check out the GAP IID Tool. They usually go on sale every once in a while on Lucky8.

I have a BlueDriver, nothing fancy but we use them at my work at they work pretty well for general diag and abs codes. I’ve heard good things about the GAP tool though, might be one more thing to add to the toolbox.

Well guys, the leak down test doesn’t lie! Looks like pretty good compression on most of the cylinders, but cylinder 5 is DEAD. TDC shows about 10psi at 100psi pressure and heavy air leak through the exhaust. Looks like we got a burned exhaust valve! Time to break out the pocketbook.

I'm sorry to hear that. Maybe a small consolation that you at least know what it is now.
