Hi all,

Wondering if there are any Seattle area folks who service their Land Rover at an Indie shop they'd recommend? We have a 2015 LR4 with 20k miles. Parts cost is:

QTY PART NUMBER PART DESCRIPTION PART PRICE EXT PRICE
1 ROLR023977 FILTER- ODOUR AN 56.99 56.99
1 ROLR011279 FILTER - OIL - E 44.99 44.99
9 RO15AF6F 0W20 EDGE PRO 13.95 125.55

Seems a bit rich to me. Indie recommendations would be great.

Thanks

Lemorna in Ballard small indy shop, great guys. Biggs in Bellevue. Old original owner is now at Lemorna...

However, my dealer in Tacoma actually does pretty well on cost so I usually go there for shop needs. I swear oil change was cheaper but it may have been non-synthetic oil which is usually more $. Can't recall.

Cabin filter is super easy to DIY FYI ;)

Hey, which dealer was that, Bellevue or Lynwood? They're same owner though I think.

It was Bellevue. Yeah, the Cabin Air filter is something i'd normally do myself, but can't imagine it knocking much off. I can get it for around $40, but I'm sure they'd simply knock off the parts and still charge the same labor. Oh well. And dealer's wonder why there are over 200,000 independent repair shops out there...

It looks like the only substantive things they are doing is the cabin air filter and an oil change.

If you are at all DIY inclined, the oil change on an LR4 is the easiest I have done on any vehicle, assuming you get a Mightyvac or something similar as an up-front investment.

Lamorna is now in North Seattle, near Northgate along Aurora Ave. I take my LR4 to Eurocar Service in the Ravenna area. They are a good indy shop.

I had my heater core done at Auburn Foreign & Domestic, dash taken down to the firewall and put back together. No squeaks, electronics functional, and the heat is nice and hot now.

First of all, if it's not under warranty, stop going to the dealer. That is the last place you should go. I'll save rants and horror stories about LR Seattle (Lynnwood) for another time, but they are a frickin rip-off. Just do not go there. Ok, maybe just one horror story: EVERY time I've given them a chance to do something simple (oil change, diff box oil/tranny oil), they've managed to "find" 17 other things that "needed" to be done. Here I am, tens of thousands of miles later (not having done those items), thousands of dollars richer. There's preventive maintenance, and then there's giving those a-holes money to do things that don't need to be done anytime soon. Stay away.

Lamorna is probably only going to be $150-$200 cheaper on this particular service, but more importantly, he's (Gord'n) NOT an asshole. That's why we go there. He's always been very straight forward with us, and I know he's only doing what needs to be done...while also letting me know what's coming down the pike in the next few months or years. Is he perfect? **** no. He's human just like you and me, but he's an HONEST human, and him and Steve know their stuff. We have an '06 Range Rover L322 that we've been taking to him for 3 years now. She's still running like new.

Tip: Call and SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT. Don't expect him to get you in tomorrow. If you give him that respect, he'll save your buns when you're really in a pickle. I emailed him late on a Sunday night when my front air strut bought the farm, and he saw me at 7am the next morning and had me on my way in under 90 minutes. I barely was late for work. Word of warning: his shop looks like a hurricane swept through and the Red Cross forgot to swing by, but pay it no mind. He's not in the closet organizing business.

Digging this up to see if anyone has current recommendations for a Seattle area Land Rover specialist? I’ve had a couple of interactions with Lamorna that didn’t give me confidence in their abilities (at least, not with late model LRs). I also second the comments above regarding Lynnwood Land Rover (and Bellevue are the same - owned by the same company).
