Should I buy this LR4?

Not shilling, but we had a really good experience with Carvana, and got our gem of an LR4 HSE Lux (2011) with 69K miles for under $20K. We bought it from them over a year ago, so I don't know what the market is like now, but it might be worth a look on their site.

That included a 100 Day/4000 Mile Warranty. We took it to our dealership early on and said essentially, "now is your chance to find anything and everything that isn't right with this truck and we'll have it fixed."

Carvana Warranty (SilverRock) covered everything... all told, around $4000 worth of minor repairs were covered.
They replaced the driver side headlight washer jet, replaced the heated windshield, repaired a slight oil seepage near a sensor + replaced the sensor, replaced the steering clock spring when it started acting up (a rare problem) and replaced the missing battery cover/hood insulator.

After the Warranty ended, I started doing all the maintenance and any needed repairs (hasn't needed any yet).
It's been an absolutely great vehicle. No regrets whatsoever.

Glad to hear you had a good experience with Carvana’s warranty. I’ve thought about using them in the past, but couldn’t find what I wanted.

Gotta say, though, Land Rover dealers are killing the value of these cars with their sky high repair prices. That list of repairs doesn’t sound like it should cost anywhere close to $4000. And then I hear reports of valve cover gaskets - $1500-2000, timing chains - up to $10K, engine transplant - up to $20K or so. It’s crazy. And when the dealer prices go up, the indy prices start to follow. By the hour, they’re charging more than lawyers.

@PaulLR3 - I had you as a lifer. What’s it being replaced with? You’ll need something to worry about.

Probably another Defender but possibly an X5 if some of the currently unavailable options come back. I love my new Defender, I do feel it's a smaller but "new and improved" LR4.
When I got the Defender, I posted our gray LR4 for sale, but someone made me an offer on our low mileage red LR4 that I couldn't refuse. I feel a little guilty that my wife lost her beloved LR4 and is now driving the 8 year old high mileage LR4. Plus our kids go off to college in opposite directions this fall, so I want her to have a new, more reliable vehicle to take on long trips.

Nice, I didn’t realize you had so many. Glad to hear you’re liking the new defender. Good luck with your next vehicle.

You still have the passport?

Bide your time and wait for a better deal. An LR4 at that age/milage will need to have new control arms, coolant system replacement, transmission service, and new wheel hub assemblies. Watch for those parts to have been serviced/replaced when buying.

I would say this is overpriced, even if it had none of the problems you list. For perspective, I bought the 2015 LR4 you see in my photo just 2 months ago with about 35000 miles on the clock for around $34k. I'd think >100k miles should be MUCH lower in price, so if its not, its because of the current abnormal surge in demand for 4WD SUVs. I am sure this cannot last forever.

Secondly, they are AWESOME Offroad but have problems. Mine is already in for an almost $2k fix for an oil leak. So its not worth paying say Land Cruiser prices.
