You lose the CD player and the 4x4 screens (tho you still get a little view on the main dash when in 4x4)

You gain a sharper screen, features like car play and android auto and a much snappier response time. You also get a Sirius XM option. The sound seems better as well, tho with the same amp and speakers, it can’t be that noticeable.

You pretty much get what’s on your phone but on a bigger screen - I like to use Waze a lot for example. Your phone can sit wherever you like but the head unit screen is nice to work with

this looks pretty cool and worth doing, here's my LR4 (2013) photo. What does doing this retain in the OEM stuff and what does it lose? Cheers JimView attachment 13211 I use the GPS mapping quiet a bit. I use the CD also. I have

No, the kit from Spiral will have all you need. There is both an option to retain the OEM amp or replace that with something new. The key is make damn sure the year is correct - there is a difference between ‘09 - ‘11 and ‘12+

Good luck!
Appreciate it bud

G'day magus,
The missus & I have 3 vehicles - all with CD players. We've looked at replacing two with a large road-orientated SUV & keeping the 2014 LR4 TDV6 forever. Can't find a large luxo 3.0lt. diesel SUV that has a CD player as standard.
Our roadtrips with a stack of great CD's sounding brilliant through a good audio system just wouldn't be the same using high-tech devices with vastly inferior sound.
It looks like we'll be keeping my Chrysler 300, 3.0 lt. V6 turbo-diesel & wife's Skoda Yeti until the CD
players break. I'm just plain 'ole-fashioned & lovin' it!! Growing old disgracefully!!
Also, the 4WD info screen in the OE console screen is essential - it's what the LR4 is all about.

Hey you gotta do what you gotta do! I’m not selling this system to anyone, just letting the peeps know what I did and why.

For you, CDs and the 4x4 screen is crucial. For me, not so much. It’s all good [emoji106]

Any idea why they move the head unit to the center of the console? It seems like it could fit where the OEM resided. Been thinking about upgrading but missing the physical volume, quick buttons, and just the overall placement is what's holding me back

The factory screen is just a screen, it’s only 2” deep or so and you cant really get anything in behind it. No room.

Hey @Stuart Barnes, do you have any issues with glare and the new system? Since it appears the Android tablet mounts at the same angle as the stock display? I seem to have a problem with the sun in the afternoon shining on the display making it very hard to see.....of course all the dust on it doesn't help either! lol.

Just curious as I'm very seriously considering this particular upgrade!

New series from PowerfulUK where they will install two different options.

I know a lot of people don't like the "iPad stuck to the dash" aesthetic, but I don't mind it.
